WCCLS
Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) is the library system serving Washington County, Oregon. WCCLS distributes tax funds to libraries. It was established in 1975. Libraries WCCLS is made up of 16 libraries which are operated by 13 cities and non-profit organizations. Past WCCLS-affiliated libraries included ones in the former Tanasbourne Mall (when the Tanasbourne area was unincorporated) and, in the 1970s, Aloha Park Library, located in Aloha Park school, which was open to the public one night a week. In 2019, the Oregon College of Art & Craft Library closed along with the rest of the college. Additionally, the Tuality Health Resource Center closed in August. These specialty libraries had been affiliated with WCCLS for many years, and some of their collection was distributed to other libraries in the county. Aloha Community Library
The Aloha Community Library is a library serving the community of Aloha, Oregon, United States. It is governed by the Aloha Community Library Association (ACLA), which is registered as a non-profit organization in the State of Oregon and a 501(c)(3). The library opened September 22, 2012. History The library originated from an idea within a local quasi-governmental community group called Citizen Participation Organization 6 (CPO-6), which encompasses the unincorporated areas of Aloha, Reedville and Cooper Mountain, in Washington County. Aloha community activist and political entrepreneur Eric Squires was primarily responsible for the initial planning for the library, forming a work group within CPO-6. Beaverton City Library
The Beaverton City Library serves Beaverton, Oregon, and is part of the Washington County Cooperative Library Services. History The library was established in 1938, encouraged by the Kiwanis Club. The city took over operations in 1940. In 1958, the library moved into its first new facility, located at 5th Street and Hall Boulevard. It moved to Hall Street Station in 1980, then to a former Albertson's grocery store at Allen and Hall Boulevards in 1984. The 1984 move increased the library's space from to . Oregon College of Art and Craft (OCAC) was a private art college in Portland, Oregon. It granted Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees as well as art-focused certificates. The college offered an Artist-in-Residence program and provided continuing education in the arts to the local community. It was founded by Julia Christiansen Hoffman, a photographer, painter, sculptor, metal worker and weaver, out of her desire to foster the Arts and Crafts movement through classes and exhibitions. The college closed at the end of the spring 2019 semester. History The college was founded in September 1907 as the Arts and Crafts Society. Beaverton is a city in Washington County, in the U.S. state of Oregon with a small portion bordering Portland in the Tualatin Valley. The city is among the main cities that make up the Portland metropolitan area. Its population was 97,494 at the 2020 census, making it the second-largest city in the county and the seventh-largest city in Oregon. Sherwood Public Library is the library serving Sherwood in the U.S. state of Oregon. Operated by the city, it is a member of the Washington County Cooperative Library Services. Established in 1935, it has an annual circulation of around 370,000 items. History The Sherwood library was started in 1935 in a drugstore, initially with a single shelf.
