WBUG-FM
WBGK (99.7 MHz) and WBUG (101.1 MHz) are commercial FM radio stations simulcasting a country music radio format known as "Bug Country." WBGK is licensed to Newport Village, New York, and WBUG is licensed to Fort Plain, New York. They are owned by Roser Communications Network, Inc. The signals of the two stations cover the Utica-Rome radio market as well as the Mohawk Valley. Although WBGK is licensed to the village of Newport, New York, the license states "Newport Village" as the city of license. There is no city or village in New York State called "Newport Village". WVTL
WVTL (1570 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting a classic country radio format to the Mohawk Valley in the U.S. state of New York. It is licensed to Amsterdam, New York, and is owned by Roser Communications Network, Inc. WVTL's radio studios and offices are in Florida, New York. By day, WVTL is powered at 1,000 watts, non-directional. But 1570 AM is a Canadian clear channel frequency. So at night, to reduce interference, WVTL cuts its power to 204 watts. WIXT (AM)
WIXT is an AM radio station broadcasting on a frequency of 1230 kHz and licensed to the city of Little Falls, New York. Owned by Galaxy Communications, the station airs a variety hits format under the branding ''Tony FM 99.1''. History of WIXT WIXT signed on June 22, 1952 under the call letters WLFH (the call letters stood for Little Falls and nearby Herkimer, two of its primary communities). It was the first full-time radio station in Herkimer County. The 1230 frequency had previously been occupied by WIBX in nearby Utica from 1941 until it moved to the 950 frequency in 1947. Newport (village), New York
Newport is a village in Herkimer County, New York, United States. The population was 640 at the 2010 census. The village is in the eastern part of the town of Newport and is northeast of Utica. History The early community was known as the "Bowen Settlement", after its founder Benjamin Bowen. He purchased the land around 1788 and began improvements and invited settlers to purchase land. Real Country is a 24-hour radio format produced by Westwood One. Real Country is marketed at the demographic of men aged 35 to 64.
