WUSP (AM)
WUSP (1550 kHz) is an AM radio station in Utica, New York. Programming is simulcast on WRCK 1480 kHz in Remsen, New York. Two FM translators also carry the programming, 95.5 MHz W238CA in Utica, relaying WUSP, and 94.1 MHz W231DZ Remsen, relaying WRCK. The stations are owned by the ''Utica Phoenix'', a local alternative newspaper, and air an urban contemporary - hip hop music radio format. WUSP History In 1962, WBVM 1550 signed on, owned by Michael and Danial Fusco. WBVM was named after the Blessed Virgin Mary. WRNY (1350 AM) is an American radio station broadcasting at 1350 kHz. The station was owned by Clear Channel Communications until September 2007, when ownership was transferred to Galaxy Utica as a result of Clear Channel's decision to "go private". The station had been acquired by Clear Channel from Dame Media in June 1999. WRNY also simulcasts on WTLB AM 1310 in Utica, New York and translator station W243DY at 96.5 FM. All three stations are affiliated with ESPN Radio. WTLB has been granted an FCC construction permit to decrease day power to 2,600 watts and decrease night power to 38 watts. WIXT is an AM radio station broadcasting on a frequency of 1230 kHz and licensed to the city of Little Falls, New York. Owned by Galaxy Communications, the station airs a variety hits format under the branding ''Tony FM 99.1''. History of WIXT WIXT signed on June 22, 1952 under the call letters WLFH (the call letters stood for Little Falls and nearby Herkimer, two of its primary communities). It was the first full-time radio station in Herkimer County. The 1230 frequency had previously been occupied by WIBX in nearby Utica from 1941 until it moved to the 950 frequency in 1947. CBEF (1550 AM) is a non-commercial radio station in Windsor, Ontario. It airs the programming of Radio-Canada's Première network. CBEF is a Class A station broadcasting on the clear-channel frequency of 1550 AM, and is the only full power station on this frequency in Canada. Most clear channel stations broadcast at 50,000 watts, the maximum permitted for Canadian AM stations, but CBEF is powered at 10,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna, located off Talbot Road (Route 3) in Tecumseh, Ontario. CBEF is also heard on three FM rebroadcasters in Southern Ontario. CBEF was launched in 1970.
