WDOE is an AM/FM radio station located in Dunkirk, New York. It is owned by Alan Bishop and George Kimble, who also own sister station WBKX in Fredonia. The station operates on an AM frequency of 1410 kHz. On December 7, 2012, WDOE began simulcasting on an FM translator at 94.9 MHz. On November 5, 2020, it added a second FM signal at 101.5 MHz. The station then dropped is 94.9 FM signal in the spring of 2022. WDOE operates a mostly automated classic hits format and features two local newsmen, Dave Rowley and Greg Larson. Falconer is a village in Chautauqua County, New York, United States. The population was 2,284 at the 2020 census. Falconer is within the town of Ellicott and is on the eastern edge of the city of Jamestown. History The area now known as Falconer was inhabited by the Erie People until the mid-1600s. WBUZ (1570 AM, "1570 The Buzz") is a now-defunct radio station that was based in Fredonia, New York. The station was privately owned by Henry Serafin. History The station signed on the air in August 1957 under the ownership of permittee Louis W. Skelly, who received the permit to build the station on August 27, 1956. Studios and offices were located at 15 East Main Street in Fredonia. The station operated at a daytime-only power of 250 watts. Skelly, a native of Austintown, Ohio, sold the station to Dunkirk-Fredonia Broadcasting, Inc., which also owned the Dunkirk-Fredonia Observer newspaper. The transaction was finalized on January 1, 1959.
