WARM (AM)
WARM (590 AM) is a radio station licensed to the city of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and serving the Scranton-Wilkes Barre radio market. The station is currently owned by Seven Mountains Media. The station is a Class B AM broadcasting station according to the Federal Communications Commission. WARM broadcasts with a power of 1,800 watts during the daytime and 430 watts at night with two different directional antenna signal patterns for each. Both antenna patterns are aimed primarily towards the southeast with some signal aimed towards the northwest from its transmitting facility located 15 miles northwest of Scranton in Falls, Pennsylvania. WARM uses three, originally five, 495 feet high broadcasting towers to transmit its signal from that location; the change to three towers occurred concurrently with a reduction in power from 5,000 watts. WLGD (107.7 MHz, "Bigfoot Legends 101.7 & 107.7") is an FM radio station, licensed to Dallas, Pennsylvania, and serving the Scranton - Wilkes-Barre area of Northeastern Pennsylvania. It currently airs a classic country format. WLGD is owned and operated by Seven Mountains Media. History: Beginnings as WYMK This station began as WYMK, and was borne out of an effort that began in the mid-1980s with the debut of its AM sister station, WEMR (now WGMM). CBS Sports Radio is a sports radio network that debuted with hourly sports news updates on September 4, 2012, and with 24/7 programming on January 2, 2013. CBS Sports Radio is owned by Paramount Global and distributed by Westwood One. Programming on the network features reporters and personalities from CBS Sports, CBS Sports Network, and CBSSports.com. WNEP-TV (channel 16) is a television station licensed to Scranton, Pennsylvania, United States, serving as the ABC affiliate for Northeastern Pennsylvania. Owned by Tegna Inc., the station maintains studios on Montage Mountain Road in Moosic. Through a channel sharing agreement with PBS member WVIA-TV (channel 44), the two stations transmit using WNEP-TV's spectrum from an antenna at Penobscot Knob near Mountain Top. WNEP-TV operates a digital replacement translator on UHF channel 22 that is licensed to Waymart with a transmitter in Forest City. The True Oldies Channel
Scott Shannon's True Oldies Channel (also known more recently as ''The True Oldies Channel: Greatest Hits'') is a radio network begun in the spring of 2004. Originally distributed by ABC Radio Networks via satellite, the service plays a hybrid oldies/classic hits format comprising music mostly from 1964 to 1979 but also plays selected cuts from the 1955-1963 era and also from the 1980s. As of September 22, 2016, it is distributed via United Stations Radio Networks. Prior to June 30, 2014; the service had over 100 affiliate stations across the United States. The service is available 24 hours a day online. Some stations ran the format full-time 24/7 while a few others ran it on overnights only. Michael Scott Shannon (born July 25, 1947) is an American radio disc jockey who hosted the morning show for WCBS-FM in New York City from 2014 to 2022 as well as ''Scott Shannon Presents America's Greatest Hits'' which is syndicated nationally with United Stations Radio Networks and Audacy. He previously worked for WHTZ, WPLJ, ''The True Oldies Channel'', and ''The Sean Hannity Show''. Early radio career Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Shannon grew up an Army brat in Indianapolis, Indiana. In the broadcasting industry, an owned-and-operated station (frequently abbreviated as an O&O) usually refers to a television or radio station owned by the network with which it is associated. This distinguishes such a station from an affiliate, which is independently owned and carries network programming by contract. The concept of an O&O is clearly defined in the United States and Canada (and to some extent, several other countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Japan), where network-owned stations had historically been the exception rather than the rule. Cumulus Media Networks was an American radio network owned and operated by Cumulus Media. From 2011 until its merger with Westwood One, it controlled many of the radio assets formerly belonging to the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), which was broken up in 2007; Cumulus owned the portion of the network that was purchased by Citadel Broadcasting that year. The network adopted its final name in September 2011, following Cumulus's acquisition of Citadel; prior to this, it had been known as Citadel Media Networks since April 2009, after licensing the "ABC Radio Networks" name from The Walt Disney Company for nearly two years.
