W. H. Bramble Airport
W.H. Bramble Airport, also known as Blackburne Airport, was an international airport on the east coast of the island of Montserrat, a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It was named after Montserrat Chief Minister William Henry Bramble. The airport was destroyed in 1997 by an eruption of the nearby Soufrière Hills volcano, which obliterated much of the southern part of the island. For several years after the disaster, Montserrat was only accessible by helicopter or boat, until July 2005, when the new Gerald's Airport (now John A. Osborne Airport) was completed at the north end of the island (north of Saint Johns and south of Gerald's). The IATA airport code previously used by Bramble Airport, MNI, has now been transferred to the new airport. W. H. LIAT (1974) Ltd, also known as Leeward Islands Air Transport Services and operating as LIAT, is a regional airline headquartered in Antigua and Barbuda that operated high-frequency inter-island scheduled services to 15 destinations in the Caribbean. The airline's main base was V.C. Bird International Airport, Antigua and Barbuda, with a secondary base at Grantley Adams International Airport, Barbados. On 27 June 2020, the Antiguan prime minister Gaston Browne announced that LIAT would be liquidated following increased debt and the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Associated Independent Recording (AIR) is an independent recording company founded in London in 1965 by record producer Sir George Martin and his business partner John Burgess, after their departure from Parlophone. The studio complex was founded in 1969. Since then AIR has operated its own professional audio recording facilities, AIR Studios. Oxford Street, London (1970–1991) AIR's first facility opened on 6 October 1970. It was located on the fourth floor of 214 Oxford Street, at Oxford Circus, containing four studios and (later) a MIDI programming room. History Founded in 1972 by (Sir) Frank Delisle with a single twin-prop aircraft, Carib Aviation provided charter and scheduled flights throughout the Caribbean from its main base in Antigua.
