Vittorio Leonardo
Vittorio Leonardo (25 November 1938) is an Italian colorist of some famous Franco-Belgian comics series. He worked for '' Spirou'' magazine and founded the ''Studio Leonardo'', which continued his work. Biography Vittorio Leonardo was born in Naples, Italy, in 1938. He left his motherland for Belgium in 1947. After various graphic experiences (charcoal, models, oil paintings), he finally dedicated himself to the comic strip. He met Morris and kept in touch with him. With the help of Morris, but also Franquin, Peyo and Remacle, Leonardo created the comics series ''Barbotine'' which allowed him to be hired by '' Spirou'' magazine. He took over ''Hultrasson'' in 1973, and he created ''Superdog'' and ''Bardolino''. He also wrote some scenarios, among them Boule et Bill. Hired by Morris' Lucky Productions, he is entrusting the drawing of some ''Rantanplan'' albums, published each week in Télé Star from 1993. Lucky Luke
''Lucky Luke'' is a Western ''bande dessinée'' series created by Belgian cartoonist Morris in 1946. Morris wrote and drew the series single-handedly until 1955, after which he started collaborating with French writer René Goscinny. Their partnership lasted until Goscinny's death in 1977. Afterwards, Morris used several other writers until his own death in 2001. Since Morris's death, French artist Achdé has drawn the series, scripted by several successive writers. The series takes place in the American Old West of the United States. It stars the titular Lucky Luke, a street-smart gunslinger known as the "man who shoots faster than his shadow", and his intelligent horse Jolly Jumper. Lucky Luke is pitted against various villains, either fictional or inspired by American history or folklore. Yoko Tsuno
''Yoko Tsuno'' is a comics album series created by the Belgian writer Roger Leloup published by Dupuis in '' Spirou'' magazine since its debut in 1970. Through thirty volumes, the series tell the adventures of Yoko Tsuno, a female electrical engineer of Japanese origin surrounded by her close friends, Vic Video and Pol Pitron (see Yoko Tsuno characters). Their adventures bring them to, among other places, Belgium (Bruges), Germany, Scotland, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and also into outer space. The stories are heavily technology driven, with concepts like robot dragons (''Le Dragon de Hong Kong''), suspended animation (''La Frontière de la vie''), time travel ('' La Spirale du temps'' and others), and even an alien species called the Vineans. The Smurfs
''The Smurfs'' (french: Les Schtroumpfs; nl, De Smurfen) is a Belgian comic franchise centered on a fictional colony of small, blue, humanoid creatures who live in mushroom-shaped houses in the forest. ''The Smurfs'' was first created and introduced as a series of comic characters by the Belgian comics artist Peyo (the pen name of Pierre Culliford) in 1958, wherein they were known as ''Les Schtroumpfs''. There are more than 100 Smurf characters, and their names are based on adjectives that emphasise their characteristics, such as "Jokey Smurf", who likes to play practical jokes on his fellow Smurfs. ''La Patrouille des Castors'' (The Beaver Patrol) is a series of Belgian comics drawn by MiTacq and written by Jean-Michel Charlier. 30 albums were published between 1955 and 1993, by Dupuis, all relating the adventures of a Scout patrol. History This series, which was first published in '' Spirou'' magazine on November 25, 1954, relates the fictional adventures of a Scout patrol. In the first album, the patrol consisted of six Scouts, although one of them, Lapin (rabbit) disappeared quickly from future stories after the team decided five main characters was a more suitable number for the series. The artist, Michel Tacq (MiTacq), had himself been a Scout during a large part of his life. ''Marsupilami'' is a comic book character and fictional animal species created by André Franquin. Its first appearance was in the 31 January 1952 issue of the Franco-Belgian comics magazine '' Spirou''. Since then it appeared regularly in the popular Belgian comics series ''Spirou & Fantasio'', as a pet of the main characters, until Franquin stopped working on the series; the character's final appearance in the series during Franquin's lifetime was in 1970. Isabelle (comics)
''Isabelle'' was a Belgian comic series drawn by Will and written by André Franquin, Delporte and Raymond Macherot. The comic first appeared in '' Spirou'' magazine in 1969. Created by a top team of already-famous contributors to the magazine, the series gained a small but fanatical following. The first stories were written by Franquin (of Gaston Lagaffe fame), Delporte (editor of ''Spirou'' and writer of many comics) and Macherot (creator of '' Sibylline''). Later, Delporte alone wrote the stories in collaboration with Will. Twelve albums were published until the series ended with Will's death in 2000.
