Virve Koppel
Virve Koppel (7 October 1931 Tallinn – 26 May 2016) was an Estonian television and film director. In 1956 she graduated from Lunacharsky State Institute for Theatre Arts (GITIS). 1956-1989 she worked as an editor and director at Eesti Televisioon. Tallinn () is the most populous and capital city of Estonia. Lunacharsky State Institute For Theatre Arts
The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) (russian: Российский институт театрального искусства – ГИТИС) is the largest and oldest independent theatrical arts school in Russia. Located in Moscow, the school was founded on 22 September 1878 as the Shostakovsky Music School. It became the School of Music and Drama of the Moscow Philharmonic Society in 1883, was elevated to the status of a conservatory in 1886, was renamed the Institute of Music and Drama in 1918, and was known as the Lunacharsky State Institute for Theatre Arts (GITIS) from 1934 to 1991. Eesti Televisioon (ETV) ( en, Estonian Television) is an Estonian free-to-air television channel owned and operated by Estonian Public Broadcasting. It made its first broadcast on 19 July 1955. History Eesti Televisioon (''Estonian Television'') was launched on 19 July 1955. Before that, television broadcasts in Estonia could only be received from Moscow. The very first Estonian-language TV presenter was Ofelia Mikk, whose debut was in the 19 July 1955 test broadcast. Her tenure in television was cut short, because she misspoke out of nervousness. The first tenured presenter for the nascent ETV was Ruth Peramets-Püss (1927–2005). To find a presenter, a casting competition was held in 1955, but no suitable person was found. By chance, a film in which she starred, was aired on ETV on the day of the competition, and so she was hired. Mati Põldre
Mati Põldre (23 October 1936 – 7 February 2023) was an Estonian film director, scenarist and operator. Põldre was born in Tallinn. From 1968 he worked at Eesti Telefilm. During the 1990s he worked at film production company Lege Artis Film. Põldre was married to journalist, screenwriter and politician Ela Tomson. He died on 7 February 2023, at the age of 86.
