Vinay Saynekar
Vinay Saynekar is a type designer, calligrapher and a design educator. He completed his graduation from Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Art, Mumbai University and joined a paper company, Chimanlal’s Pvt Ltd, as Chief Design Consultant in 1981. He worked for some time and then returned to his college to teach and has been a teacher of typography and calligraphy in JJ since 1984. He has taken several lectures in various Art and Design Colleges, on typefaces and their design. He also visited West Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain for the same purpose in 1988. Saynekar has been honoured as the Communication Arts Guild "Guru of the Year" for three consecutive years in 2007–2008, 2008–2009 and 2009–2010. He participated in a group show called ‘3 Calligraphers’. He is a member of Aksharaya – an organisation for the 'Letter Conscious' People. Type Designer
Type design is the art and process of designing typefaces. This involves drawing each letterform using a consistent style. The basic concepts and design variables are described below. A typeface differs from other modes of graphic production such as handwriting and drawing in that it is a fixed set of alphanumeric characters with specific characteristics to be used repetitively. Historically, these were physical elements, called sorts, placed in a wooden frame; modern typefaces are stored and used electronically. It is the art of a type designer to develop a pleasing and functional typeface. Assamese Alphabet
The Assamese alphabet ( as, অসমীয়া বৰ্ণমালা, ''Oxomiya bornomala'') is a writing system of the Assamese language and is a part of the Bengali-Assamese script. This script was also used in Assam and nearby regions for Sanskrit as well as other languages such as Bodo (now Devanagari), Khasi (now Roman), Mising (now Roman), Jaintia (now Roman) etc. It evolved from Kamarupi script. Centre For Development Of Advanced Computing
The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is an Indian autonomous scientific society, operating under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. History CDAC was created in November 1987, initially as the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing Technology (C-DACT). In 1988, the US Government refused to sell India a Cray supercomputer due to concerns about India using it to develop nuclear weapons. In response, India started development of its own supercomputer and C-DAC was created as part of this programme. Dr Vijay Bhatkar was hired as the director of C-DAC. ''Sir'' is a formal honorific address in English for men, derived from Sire in the High Middle Ages.
