Viljo Halme
Karl Viljo Halme (24 January 1907 – 21 October 1981) was a Finland, Finnish Association football, football Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper. He earned 30 caps for the Finland national football team and was a member of the Finland squad at the 1936 Summer Olympics. Halme is considered one of the all-time best goalkeepers of Finland. Career Halme started his career in the Helsinki working class side Jyry Helsinki, Jyry, playing in the Finnish Workers' Sports Federation (TUL) TUL Cup, Championship series. Due to the 1918 Finnish Civil War, Civil War, Finnish football was divided, TUL and the Finnish Football Association (SPL) had their own leagues and the national team was composed of SPL players only. Mestaruussarja Players
Mestaruussarja (Championship series) was the top division of Finnish football from 1930 to 1989. It was replaced by Veikkausliiga in 1990. In 1930 league format was used for the first time to decide the Finnish champion. Before that from 1908 to 1929 the championship was decided with cup competition. The league was dominated by clubs from Helsinki, Turku and Vyborg. The first champion was HIFK Fotboll from Helsinki. In 1935 four best clubs were from Helsinki and in 1934 and 1936 top three clubs also came from Helsinki. From 1908 to 1940 the championship went outside Helsinki on only six occasions. Kuopio was the first inland city to get into the league when Pallotoverit were promoted in 1938. The Sweden national football team ( sv, svenska fotbollslandslaget) represents Sweden in men's international football and it is controlled by the Swedish Football Association, the governing body of football in Sweden.
