Viktor Klimenko (singer)
Viktor Savvich Klimenko (born 24 November 1942) is a singer who made himself known as the "Singing Cossack". Biography Klimenko was born in Karelia, to a Russian Kuban Cossack father, Savva Klimenko, and a Russian mother, Olga Glotova. A few years after his birth, his family moved to Finland. There, he became a musician and appeared in several films, mostly appearing as himself. The Eurovision Song Contest 1965 was his first appearance outside of Finland; his song didn't earn any points in the competition. In 1970, Klimenko released the album ''Stenka Rasin'' across Europe. The album, containing Russian songs, went gold in the Finnish market—the first record to do so in Finland. Later, it was certified platinum. This success was followed by a decade of concerts around the world. Klimeno had nine more gold records and one more platinum record. Finnish Military Administration In Eastern Karelia
The Finnish military administration in Eastern Karelia was an interim administrative system established in those areas of the Karelo-Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic (KFSSR) of the Soviet Union which were occupied by the Finnish army during the Continuation War. The military administration was set up on 15 July 1941 and it ended during the summer of 1944. The goal of the administration was to prepare the region for eventual annexation by Finland. The administration did not encompass the territories ceded to the Soviet Union in the Moscow Peace Treaty and subsequently recaptured by the Finns during the summer offensive of 1941. Background Finnish interest in Russian Karelia goes back to the 19th century. Eastern Karelia was seen as the cradle of Finnish culture and the ancient land of the heroic sagas of the Kalevala. Finland was represented by Lasse Mårtenson, with the song "Laiskotellen", at the 1964 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 21 March in Copenhagen. "Laiskotellen" was chosen as the Finnish entry at the national final organised by broadcaster Yle and held on 15 February. Before Eurovision National final The final was held at the Yle studios in Helsinki, hosted by Aarno Walli. Six songs took part, with the winner being chosen by voting from ten regional juries and an "expert" jury. Ann-Christine Nyström-Silén (; 26 July 1944 – 5 October 2022), also known by her stage name Ann-Christine, was a Finnish singer who performed in the Eurovision Song Contest 1966 for Finland with the song "Playboy".
