Østerbro () (literally, "Eastern Bridge") is one of the 10 official districts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located just north of the city centre, outside the old city gate Østerport which, after it was moved around 1700, used to be located close to present-day Østerport Station. Nordre Frihavnsgade ( lit. "Northern Freeport Street") is a street in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark, linking the junction Trianglen in the southwest with Østbanegade In the northeast. The street passes the two small squares Victor Borges Plads and Melchiors Plads. An underpass under the raised railway tracks at the end of the street provides access to Nordhavn's Århusgade neighbourhood. Trianglen (literally "The Triangle") is a central junction and public space in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. Five streets meet in the junction: Blegdamsvej, Øster Allé, Østerbrogade, Nordre Frihavnsgade and Odensegade. Trianglen is a station on the City Circle Line of the Copenhagen Metro. Lille Trianglen (literally "Little Triangle") is located some 400 metres to the south, along Østerbrogade. Strandboulevarden (literally "Beach Boulevard") is a major street in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Fridtjof Nansens Plads as in the south to Østerbrogade in the north, linking Kristianiagade with Jagtvej. History Decided by the City Council in 1894 and opened in 1897, Strandboulevarden was founded in connection with the establishment of the Freeport of Copenhagen in the mid-1890s and the opening of the railway between Hellerup and Østerport station, Østerport which moved the coastline north of Copenhagen several hundred eastwards in the mid-1890s. Børge Rosenbaum (3 January 1909 – 23 December 2000), known professionally as Victor Borge ( ), was a Danish-American comedian, conductor, and pianist who achieved great popularity in radio and television in the North America and Europe. His blend of music and comedy earned him the nicknames "The Clown Prince of Denmark", "The Unmelancholy Dane", and "The Great Dane". Biography Early life and career Victor Borge was born Børge Rosenbaum on 3 January 1909 in Copenhagen, Denmark, into an Ashkenazi Jewish family. Classensgade is a street in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Østerbrogade in the southwest to Østbanegade in the northeast. History The street is named after major-general and industrialist Johan Frederik Classen. whose summer retreat, Classens Have ("Classen's Garden") was located in the area. It had a vast garden as indicated by the name. Having no children, Classen endowed his estate to a foundation, Det Classenske Fideicommis.
