Vebjørn Tandberg
Vebjørn Tandberg (16 September 1904 – 30 August 1978) was a Norwegian electronics engineer. Tandberg was born at Bodø in Nordland, Norway. He attended the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim (1930). He founded '' Tandbergs Radiofabrikk'' of Oslo in 1933 and made it a great success. In addition to his technical and commercial achievements, Tandberg was a pioneer in providing good conditions for his workforce. He instituted a 42-hour week and three weeks' annual vacation for all in 1937, and a free pension and health insurance scheme for all from 1938. A four-week vacation for all employees over 40 years of age was introduced in 1947, while the working week was reduced to 39 hours in 1948. Bodø (; smj, Bådåddjo, sv, Bodö) is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Salten. Arnljot Strømme Svendsen
Arnljot Ole Strømme-Svendsen (5 December 1921 – 5 January 2022) was a Norwegian economist and Conservative politician. Biography Born in Kristiania, he was the son of Ole A. Strømm-Svendsen (Sweden and Norway, 1883–1975) and wife Dagmar Bærem (Sweden and Norway, 1886–1976). He graduated with the cand.oecon. degree in 1946, having finished his secondary education five years previously. In 1948 he was hired as a research fellow at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. He was promoted to docent in 1956, and to professor ten years later. He managed the Institute of Economics from 1957 to 1967 and the Institute of Shipping Economics from 1958 to his retirement in 1991. In 1953 he married Bertha I. Nygaard. Helmer Hartmann Dahl (17 June 1908 – 29 March 1999) was a Norwegian electrical engineer and director of research at the Chr. Michelsen Institute. Biography Dahl was born at Sarpsborg in Østfold, Norway. He was the son of Karl Theodor Dahl (1867–1928) and Catharine Hartmann (1880–1943), He graduated as a civil engineer from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in 1931. He was hired at the Chr. Michelsen Institute in 1935. He worked with physicist Olaf Devik in the development of navigational methods for the coast areas. He was arrested and later released following the German occupation of Norway in April 1940. From 1942 to 1945 he was in exile in the United Kingdom. Dahl became the captain of the Norwegian Air Force (1942) and Major (1945). Oslo
