Vassøy
Vassøy is an island in Stavanger municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The island lies in the Storhaug borough, about northeast of the centre of the city of Stavanger in an archipelago. The islands of Roaldsøy, Bjørnøy, and Langøy lie to the west and the island of Lindøy lies to the southeast. Vassøy had 702 inhabitants (in 2016) who all live along the western shore of the island; the eastern side is more rugged and wooded. The island has a primary school with around 80 pupils. The only access to the island is by private boats or the regular ferry route administered by Kolumbus that goes from Vassøy to the city centre. A bridge connecting Vassøy to either Bjørnøy or Roaldsøy has been approved, but a starting date for construction has not been set. Rogaland
Rogaland () is a Counties of Norway, county in Western Norway, bordering the North Sea to the west and the counties of Vestland to the north, Vestfold og Telemark to the east and Agder to the east and southeast. Lindøy
Lindøy is an island in the Byfjorden in Stavanger municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The island lies about northeast of the centre of the city of Stavanger. It sits in an archipelago surrounded by the islands of Vassøy, Hellesøy, and Kalvøy. All of those islands are connected to the mainland only by boat. Orphanage The island was used as an orphanage for more than a hundred years, established by Lars Oftedal in the late 1800s. A local adage in Stavanger was that parents would tell their boisterous children to "beware, otherwise I will send to Lindøy!" The reason for the institution of Lindøy was priest and politician Lars Oftedal bought the large island in 1887. The following year opened the so-called ("Rescue Home and Educational Institution") which had space for 30 "perverse and depraved boys." Storhaug
Storhaug is a borough of the city of Stavanger which lies in the southwestern part of the large municipality of Stavanger in Rogaland county, Norway. This borough includes the traditional city centre and main harbor along the Byfjorden. It is located east of Eiganes og Våland borough and south of the island borough of Hundvåg. The borough has a population (2016) of 16,544. This gives the borough a population density of .
