Valga, Estonia
Valga (german: Walk) is a town in southern Estonia and the capital of Valga County and Valga Parish. Until their separation in 1920, Valga and the town of Valka in northern Latvia were one town. They are now twin-towns. The area of Valga is and that of Valka is . Their populations are respectively 12,261 and 6,164. On 21 December 2007 all border-crossing points were removed and roads and fences opened between the two countries with both countries joining the Schengen Agreement. The Hummuli– Tartu– Riga railway is connected via Tapa with the Tallinn–Narva– St Petersburg main line. Before the Republic of Estonia became an in independent nation in 1918, many of these locations were known in the rest of the world by their German language names which were occasionally quite different from the ones used in the Estonian language. Pasažieru vilciens ("Passenger train", abbreviated: PV) is the only passenger-carrying railway company in Latvia, operating both electric locomotive, electric and diesel trains on various lines throughout the country. Tallinn () is the most populous and capital city of Estonia. Elron (rail Transit)
AS Eesti Liinirongid, operating as Elron, is a government-owned passenger train operator in Estonia. The company was founded as a subsidiary of Eesti Raudtee in 1998, and separated shortly thereafter. Prior to 2014, the company operated exclusively the electrified commuter rail system in Harjumaa, and was known until October 2013 as ''Elektriraudtee'', i.e. "the Electrical Railway". On 1 January 2014 Elron took over all domestic passenger train services in Estonia from Edelaraudtee. Edelaraudtee (''Southwestern railway'') is an Estonian railway operator founded in 1997. AS Edelaraudtee operates freight services on lines from Tallinn to Rapla, Pärnu & Viljandi owned by Edelaraudtee Infrastruktuuri AS. Until 2014, the company operated the domestic inter-city passenger routes currently operated by Elron. Before the transfer of the passenger traffic, the company employed around 500 staff and carried approximately 1.8 m passengers a year. Narva
Narva, russian: Нарва is a municipality and city in Estonia. It is located in Ida-Viru county, at the eastern extreme point of Estonia, on the west bank of the Narva river which forms the Estonia–Russia international border.
