is a municipality in the county of Vestland, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Nordhordland. The administrative centre is the village of Dalekvam. Other villages in Vaksdal include Dalegarden, Flatkvål, Helle, Nesheim, Stamneshella, Stanghelle, and Vaksdal. The municipality is the 160th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Vaksdal is the 205th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 3,867. The municipality's population density is and its population has decreased by 6.5% over the previous 10-year period. In 2016, the chief of police for Vestlandet formally suggested a reconfiguration of police districts and stations. He proposed that the police station in Solund be closed. Dale, Hordaland
Dale () or Dalekvam is the administrative centre of Vaksdal municipality, in Vestland county, Norway. The village lies at the western end of the Bergsdalen valley, about northeast of the village of Stanghelle on the shore of the Veafjorden. The village lies along the European route E16, the Bergen Line (and Dale Station), and the river Daleelva. The village has a population (2019) of 1,193 and a population density of . The small village of Dalegarden at the southern end of Dale is included in the "urban area" of Dale. Dale Church is located in the village. Eksingedalen
Eksingedalen or Eksingadalen is a valley that makes up the northeastern part of Vaksdal Municipality in Vestland County, Norway. The Eksingedalen valley stretches over from the Vikafjell mountains all the way to the Inner Osterfjorden. The Ekso River (also known as the Storelvi River) runs through the entire valley, from alpine lakes all the way down to the Eidsfjorden, a small branch off the Inner Osterfjorden. The Stølsheimen Mountains surround the Eksingedalen valley. At above sea level, Kvitanosi is the highest mountain peak around the Eksingedalen valley. The Modalen valley lies over the mountains to the north and the Modalen Tunnel connects the two valleys. Mainly a farming area, about 200-300 people live in Eksingedalen. Bergsdalen is a river valley in Vaksdal Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The long valley begins at the lake Hamlagrøvatnet on the border of the municipalities of Vaksdal, Voss, and Kvam. The valley then runs to the northwest along the river Bergsdalselvi all the way to the village of Dale where the valley ends. This valley was historically part of the main route between the city of Bergen and Voss, until the European route E16 highway was built to the north of the valley. The Bergsdalen valley now is home to a significant number of mountain cabins and there is especially a lot of tourist activity in the winter. There are about 100 year-round residents of the valley. Osterøy (island)
Osterøy is an island situated northeast of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. With a total area of , it is the largest Norwegian island not located directly adjacent to the ocean, and the second largest such island in Northern Europe. Osterøy is covered by two municipalities: the majority () by Osterøy municipality, and the rest () by Vaksdal municipality. The vast majority of the island's population lives in Osterøy municipality (7,305 inhabitants as of 2008). The island is surrounded by fjords with mainland Norway on all sides of those fjords. Bruvik (historically: ''Kyrkjebruvik'') is a village in Osterøy municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the southern shore of the island of Osterøy, along the Sørfjorden. It sits about east of the village of Hausvik and about across the fjord from the village of Vaksdal. Historically, Bruvik village was the administrative centre of the municipality of Bruvik which existed from 1870 until 1964. Bruvik Church has been located here for centuries, as has the parish of Bruvik for the Church of Norway. The Schei Committee ( no, Schei-komitéen) was a committee named by the Government of Norway to look into the organization of municipalities in Norway post-World War II. It convened in 1946, and its formal name was (The 1946 Committee on Municipal Division).
