VTB United League
VTB United League (russian: Единая Лига ВТБ) is an international professional men's club basketball list of basketball leagues, league that was founded in 2008. It is made up of mostly Russian clubs, along with one each from Belarus and Kazakhstan. Since VTB United League 2013–14, 2013, it is the Russian basketball league system, first tier of Russian professional club basketball. Therefore, the highest placed Russian team in the league is also named list of Russian basketball champions, Russian national champions. The league is sponsored by Russian state-owned VTB Bank. In 2008 PBC CSKA Moscow, CSKA Moscow won VTB United League Promo-Cup, but this competition does not count as official VTB title. The 2020–21 VTB United League was the 12th season of the VTB United League. It was the eight season that the league functions as the Russian domestic first tier level. Teams A total of 13 teams from five countries contested the league, including nine sides from Russia, one from Belarus, one from Estonia, one from Kazakhstan, and one from Poland. Venues and locations Regular season In the regular season, teams play against each other twice (home-and-away) in a round-robin format. 2022–23 VTB United League
The 2022–23 VTB United League will be the 13th season of the VTB United League. It will be the 10th season that the league functions as the Russian domestic top tier level. It was started on 2 October 2022 with the regular season and will end in June 2023 with the finals. Zenit Saint Petersburg will be the defending champion. Format changes For this season, the regular season will be divided into two phases since none team will participate in European competitions due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. At the first phase, 12 teams will play two rounds, after which the teams will be divided into two groups: Group A with top six teams from first phase and Group B with last six teams from first phase. At the second phase, the teams will play among themselves in their groups for two more rounds.
