Võnnu
Võnnu is a small borough ( et, alevik) in Tartu County, in Kastre Parish Estonia. It is located about southeast of the city of Tartu. Võnnu has a population of 552 (2011). Võnnu was the administrative centre of Võnnu Parish. Võnnu village and manor were first mentioned in 1341 as ''Wenden''. Gustav Suits
Gustav Suits ( in Võnnu, Tartu County, Livonia – 23 May 1956 in Stockholm, Sweden) is considered one of the greatest Estonian poets.W. K. Matthews, ''The Background and Poetry of Gustav Suits. A Study in Estonian Symbolism'', American Slavic and East European Review, Vol. 9, No. 2. (Apr., 1950), pp. 116–127. He was also an early leader of the literary movement group Noor-Eesti (Young Estonia). Martin Körber
Martin Georg Emil Körber ( in Võnnu – in Kuressaare) was a Baltic German pastor, composer, writer and choir leader. Life Martin Georg Emil Körber was the son of Pastor Edward Philipp Körber (1770-1850). He studied theology at the University of Tartu. His older brother was pastor and writer Carl Eduard Körber (1802–1883). He was a teacher in Kuressaare from 1842 to 1845. In 1846 he became the pastor in Anseküla, where he founded a choir. In July 1862, he organized a choral concert in Kuressaare. The Estonian War of Independence ( et, Vabadussõda, literally "Freedom War"), also known as the Estonian Liberation War, was a defensive campaign of the Estonian Army and its allies, most notably the United Kingdom, against the Bolshevik westward offensive of 1918–1919 and the 1919 aggression of the ''Baltische Landeswehr''. Carl Eduard Anton Körber (4 June 1802 Tartu County – 4 May 1883) was a Baltic-German pastor and writer. From 1820 to 1823 he studied theology at Tartu University.
