VÃtor Melo Pereira
VÃtor Manuel Melo Pereira (born 21 April 1957) is a retired association football, football Referee (association football), referee from Portugal, best known for supervising four matches at the FIFA World Cup: two in 1998 FIFA World Cup, 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cup, 2002. Since August 2017 he was the head of Greek refereeing appointed directly by FIFA. On 23 September 2021, he was hired by the Russian Football Union to head their refereeing department, replacing Viktor Kassai. On 15 March 2022, he resigned from the RFU position. The 2001 UEFA Cup final was a football match between Liverpool of England and Alavés of Spain on 16 May 2001 at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund, Germany. The showpiece event was the final match of the 2000–01 edition of Europe's secondary cup competition, the UEFA Cup. Liverpool were appearing in their third UEFA Cup final, after their appearances in 1973 and 1976. It was the first European final they had reached since being banned from European competition following the Heysel Stadium disaster in 1985. Alavés were appearing in their first European final. ĽuboÅ¡ Micheľ (; born 16 May 1968) is a retired Slovak football referee. Referee career At a young age, Micheľ refereed a number of games in Lebanon. Micheľ became a FIFA referee at the age of 25. Micheľ was selected to referee the 2003 UEFA Cup Final in Seville, Spain, between Porto and Celtic, one of the biggest appointments for a UEFA referee. Gilles Veissière (born 18 September 1959, in Nice) is a football referee from France, best known for supervising two matches during the 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan. He also led two matches at the 2000 and 2004 UEFA European Football Championship, and has refereed numerous UEFA Champions League matches. He was selected for the FIFA Europe vs. Rest of the World match to accompany the World Cup draw in Marseille in 1997.
