Víctor Larco Herrera also called commonly Víctor Larco is a district and a city of the north coast of Peru. It is located on a plain along the Pacific Ocean and is linked by a conurbation with Trujillo in La Libertad region. It is considered one of the 9 districts of the urban area known as '' Trujillo Metropolitano'', one of the most populous metropolitan areas of Peru; it is also one of the 11 districts of Trujillo province. Victor Larco is the district that has the highest human development index (HDI) out of Lima Metropolitana, according to a study published by the United Nations Development Programme. In the early twentieth century, for its mild climate and fresh, it was known as Buenos Aires and then in 1945 got the name of Victor Larco Herrera in memory of the illustrious philanthropist Trujillan who was a benefactor of the city. Marinera
Marinera is a courtship dance that originated along the coastal regions of Peru, using handkerchiefs as props. The dance is a mix of Spanish contradanza and Andean zamacueca, and is a stylized reenactment of a courtship, showing a blend of the different cultures of Peru. The dance has gained recognition throughout South America and is known as the most prominent traditional dance of Peru. The city of Trujillo has been recognized as the national birthplace of the marinera since 1986. The Marinera Festival, a cultural event dedicated to marinera held in Trujillo, has held annual competitions of the dance since 1960. Moche River
The Moche River is one of the rivers of the Pacific Ocean slope, located in the northern coast of Peru, in La Libertad Region. On both sides of this river is the millenary Moche Valley. Larco Avenue ( es, Avenida Larco) is a major avenue in the district of Miraflores, an affluent district in Lima, Peru. It originates at the Óvalo de Miraflores, a roundabout in the center of the district, and runs south, towards Avenida Armendariz and the pier. Victor Larco Herrera
Victor Larco Herrera (1870 in Trujillo, Peru – May 10, 1939 in Santiago de Chile) was a prominent politician, farmer and philanthropist from Peru. He devoted much of his life to social and cultural affairs. Since 1945, the Victor Larco Herrera District was named after the trujillan philanthropist who with their property supported the first residents of the district. Larco Herrera was also mayor of Trujillo. Biography He was elected senator for the La Libertad Region in 1904, and then successively re-elected until 1919. The Human Development Index (HDI) is a statistic composite index of life expectancy, education (mean years of schooling completed and expected years of schooling upon entering the education system), and per capita income indicators, which is used to rank countries into four tiers of human development.
