Værløse (c 1736)
Værløse () is a town in Furesø Municipality in the northwestern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. As of 1 January 2023, it has a population of 13,203. Situated on the west side of the Hillerød Motorway, between Farum Lake to the north and Søndersø Lake to the south, it is surrounded by forest on three sides. Modern Værløse emerged around Værløse station in the 1950s. The original centre of the parish was the village of Kirke Værløse, located three kilometres to the west. The two communities have now almost merged. History Kirke Værløse is mentioned in 1321–23 as ''Vetherløsa maklæ''. The meaning of the name is unclear but it may be an old name for the lake Søndersø. The suffix ''-løse'' means "area used for grazing in a clearing" (Danish: "''græsgang i lysning''"). The word ''maklæ'' (newer Danish ''magle'') means great or large. Nik & Jay is a Danish hip-hop/pop duo made of Niclas Genckel Petersen (born 8 November 1980 in Herlev) and Jannik Brandt Thomsen (born 16 June 1981). Their #2 single ''Hot!'' won them Hit of the Year and Best New Artist at the Danish Music Awards in 2003. Thomas Bickham, also known as Tomboy (born 29 March 1975 in Værløse), is a Danish drag queen, stylist, hairdresser, designer and TV personality. Bickham was originally trained as a clothing operator, but already as a 19 year old he started performing as a drag queen. Among other things, he has participated in the Danish TV shows ''Big Brother VIP'' (Denmark) 2003 (which he won), ''The Lyrics Board'' and ''De Fantastiske 5'' (Danish version of Queer Eye), as well as several TV ads. Annette Mangaard
Annette Mangaard is a Danish/Canadian filmmaker, artist, writer, director, and producer, whose films and installations have been shown internationally at art galleries, cinematheques and film festivals. With a practice rooted in theatrical drama and explorative documentary, Mangaard's films investigate notions and nuances of freedom within the confines of structural expectations. Mangaard's early films are filled with experimental visual effects, footage is often shot in Super 8 and reshot in 16mm and then printed optically frame by frame. The result is a grainy textured look, with images that are saturated in colour.
