Vyacheslav Klokov
Vyacheslav Ivanovich Klokov (russian: Вячеслав Иванович Клоков, born 1959) is a retired Russian heavyweight weightlifter. He won the world and European titles in 1983, placing second in 1981 and 1982. Between 1980 and 1983 he set seven ratified world records. After retiring from competitions he headed the Russian Weightlifting Federation and served as vice-president of the European Weightlifting Federation. His son Dmitry Klokov became an Olympic heavyweight weightlifter. Arzamas
Arzamas (russian: Арзама́с) is a city in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia, located on the Tyosha River (a tributary of the Oka), east of Moscow. Population: History Arzamas was founded in 1578 by Ivan the Terrible in the lands populated at the time by Mordvins. By 1737, more than 7,000 people lived in Arzamas and the town became a major transit centre on the route from Moscow to eastern parts of Russia. It was known for its geese and onions as well as leather crafts. Catherine the Great in 1781 granted town status to Arzamas and a coat of arms based on the colours of the Arzamas regiment. In the early 19th century, Arzamas had over twenty churches and cathedrals, the foremost being the Resurrection Cathedral. Balashikha ( rus, Балашиха, p=bəlɐˈʂɨxə) is a city in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on the Pekhorka River east of the Moscow Ring Road. Olympic Weightlifting
Olympic weightlifting, or Olympic-style weightlifting (officially named Weightlifting), is a sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with each athlete trying to successfully lift the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead: these are the snatch and the clean and jerk. The ''snatch'' is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The ''clean and jerk'' is a combination lift, in which the weight is first taken from the ground to the front of the shoulders (the clean), and then from the shoulders to overhead (the jerk). The World Weightlifting Championships is an event organised by International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The first competition, held in March 1891, was won by Edward Lawrence Levy of England. Dmitriy Vyacheslavovich Klokov (russian: Дмитрий Вячеславович Клоков; born February 18, 1983) is a Russian former Olympic weightlifting, Olympic weightlifter, and World Champion. He competed in the 105 kg category. Biography Klokov was born in Balashikha, the son of Vyacheslav Klokov, who was a world champion in the heavyweight category. Klokov became world champion at the 2005 World Weightlifting Championships, 2005 World Championships, with a total of 419 kg. He also participated in the 2005 and 2006 Arnold Sports Festivals in Columbus, Ohio.
