Vossevangen
Vossevangen or Voss is the administrative centre of Voss municipality in Vestland county, Norway. Location The village lies on the northeastern shore of the lake Vangsvatnet in the central part of the municipality, about east of the city of Bergen. The villages of Borstrondi and Kvitheim are both small suburbs located just north of Vossevangen. The village has a population (2019) of 6,745 and a population density of . The European route E16 highway and the Bergensbanen railway line both run through the village. The railway line stops at Voss Station in the centre of the village. This is the main road and main railway line between the cities of Oslo and Bergen. The Norwegian National Road 13 also runs through the village. Vangsvatnet
Vangsvatnet is a lake in the municipality of Voss in Vestland county, Norway. The lake lies in the central part of the municipality, on the southwestern shore of the municipal centre of Vossevangen. The Vosso River flows through both Vangsvatnet and the lake Evangervatnet before it empties into Bolstadfjorden by the village of Bolstadøyri to the west. The lake is used for various water-based extreme sports activities like Kite surfing and boat dragged paragliding. Other activities include paddleboarding, windsurfing and canoeing with Voss Flow. Vangsvatnet is named after the place Vangen—the municipal center and old churchsite of Voss. Voss Church
Voss Church ( no, Voss kyrkje, , or ) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Voss Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Vossevangen. It is the church for the Voss parish which is part of the Hardanger og Voss prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The gray, stone church was built in a long church design in 1277 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 460 people. History The site of the present church may once have been occupied by a heathen temple. In 1023, King Olaf Haraldsen visited Vossevangen to convert the people to Christianity. Tradition says that he built a large stone cross at the site, which was probably the first Christian place of worship at Voss and this place became the main church for all of '' Hordafylket'' during the Middle Ages. Voss Station
Voss Station ( no, Voss stasjon) is a railway station on the Bergen Line located in the village of Vossevangen in the municipality of Voss in Vestland county, Norway. It sits just off the European route E16 highway on the northwestern shore of the lake Vangsvatnet. The station was opened as the original terminal station of the Voss Line in 1883. It is served by express trains to Bergen and Oslo, and the Bergen Commuter Rail, all operated by Vy. Most commuter trains terminate at Voss, but up to seven per day continue on to Myrdal. Vestland
Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. The administrative centre of the county is the city of Bergen, where the executive and political leadership is based, but the County Governor is based in Hermansverk. Norwegian National Road 13
National Road 13 ( no, Riksvei 13, ) is a national road which runs from the town of Stavanger in Rogaland county to the village of Sogndalsfjøra in Vestland county. The route is long and runs south–north through Rogaland and Vestland counties, following a more inland path than the European route E39 highway. Prior to 2019, the northern terminus of the road was at the village of Balestrand, but in 2019, the section of Norwegian County Road 55 from Balestrand to Sogndalsfjøra was added to National Road 13, extending it all the way to Sogndalsfjøra. In 2020, a new tunnel was opened between Stavanger and Tau, Ryfylke Tunnel, the world's deepest public road tunnel. National Road 13 was then rerouted through this tunnel, making it end in Stavanger instead of Sandnes.
