The Volvo 8500 was an aluminium body single-deck city/intercity bus manufactured by Volvo between 2001 and 2011. It was available with medium floor as two-axle (B7R, B12M), tri-axle (B12M) and the articulated ''8500A'' (B12MA). As the low-entry Volvo 8700LE as two-axle (B7RLE, B12BLE), tri-axle (B12BLE) and the articulate ''8500LEA'' (B9SALE). Trafikselskabet Movia is the public transport agency that is responsible for buses and certain local railways in Copenhagen and the part of Denmark east of the Great Belt, covering the regions Sjælland and Hovedstaden, except for Bornholm, which is a 100% owner of BAT, formerly, before 1 January 2003, transit agency Bornholms Amts Trafikselskab. It does not own any buses and trains itself, but pays subcontractors to run them. It is a part owner of train company Lokaltog. It has an integrated fare system in collaboration with the Copenhagen metro and DSB, which means that the same tickets are valid on all buses and trains. Volvo B10BLE
The Volvo B10BLE was a rear-engined low-entry single-decker bus chassis manufactured by Volvo in Sweden between 1993 and 2004. The first prototypes were built in 1992, but mass production started in 1993, only a year after the high-floor B10B. It was popular in Australia, Scandinavia and the United Kingdom. It had the engine mounted on the rear overhang of the bus. It became the successor of the city bus version of the B10B and was used as a base for single-decker buses worldwide. The B10BLE was available in diesel powered format, and later in a compressed natural gas powered format with the fuel tanks on the roof of the bus. Its low-floor design was widely promoted by Volvo when it was first launched, on the basis of added convenience to the passengers, and the increase in transport efficiency due to the low-floor design. Volvo 7900
The Volvo 7900 is an integrally-constructed single-decker rigid bus and single-decker articulated bus, most commonly available as a hybrid electric bus named Volvo 7900 Hybrid or just Volvo 7900H, but is also available with both diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engines in some markets. It is manufactured at Volvo's plant in Poland. It was introduced at Busworld Kortrijk 2011. Based on the Volvo 7900 Hybrid an extension is offered, which i.a. includes a roof-mounted device for occasional loading at stops. The manufacturer assumes that all buses at all end stations and also at some particularly busy stations stay a few minutes until the return or onward journey. As soon as a bus reaches an appropriately equipped stop, a loading unit attached to a pillar at the roadside lowers onto the coupling point mounted on the roof of the bus. Compressed natural gas (CNG) is a fuel gas mainly composed of methane (CH4), compressed to less than 1% of the volume it occupies at standard atmospheric pressure. It is stored and distributed in hard containers at a pressure of , usually in cylindrical or spherical shapes. CNG is used in traditional petrol/internal combustion engine vehicles that have been modified, or in vehicles specifically manufactured for CNG use: either alone (dedicated), with a segregated liquid fuel system to extend range (dual fuel), or in conjunction with another fuel ( bi-fuel). Volvo 8900
The Volvo 8900 is a single-decker city bus and intercity bus, first introduced in 2010 as a cross-breed successor to both the aluminium body 8500 and the stainless steel body 8700, taking advantage of both techniques. It is available both with 860 mm step-entrance floor and as the low-entry Volvo 8900LE. History The Volvo 8500 built by Volvo Säffle in early May 2010 received a new front facelift. Two months later Volvo officially announced the new 8900 model. The front was the same as the facelifted 8500, but the rest of the bus was new. The 8500 from Säffle would be out of production by summer 2011, while the Wrocław-built 8700 would be gone by new-year 2012. Volvo B9LA
The Volvo B9L (also known as the Volvo 7500, Volvo 7700 or Volvo 7900 for integral models) was a fully low-floor single-decker bus chassis constructed by Volvo Buses from 2005 until 2013, replacing the Volvo B7L and Volvo B10L. An articulated model, known as the Volvo B9LA, is also available. It was superseded by the Volvo B5LH in Europe. The engine is mounted vertically on the rear left overhang of the chassis similarly to with the B7L, allowing B9Ls to be low-floor throughout the whole length of the bus due to a lack of underfloor equipment. The Volvo B9L is available as an integral bus bodied by Volvo (7500/7700/7900) or as a chassis only, with bodies by other manufacturers. The Volvo B9S was an articulated bus chassis constructed by Volvo Buses between 2002 and 2011. It was available as a low-entry bus (the B9SALE), a wholly low-floor bus (the B9SALF), and an integral bus bodied by Volvo (the 7500 or 8500). The B9S was successful in few countries. It has been commercialized in Sweden, where it has been in use in the urban systems of Stockholm, Östergötland, Umeå and Gothenburg, being used there as a rapid transit buses; in Chile where it was a part of the biggest purchase order for Volvo buses: 1,159 articulated units entrusted for the urban system of Santiago; and in Brazil to be used in urban system of Sao Paulo by rapid transit corridors, in articulated and bi-articulated versions. Volvo B12BLE
The Volvo B12BLE is a low-entry city and suburban bus chassis launched in 2001 with a rear-mounted transverse engine. It superseded the Volvo B10BLE and is used as a base for single-decker buses in Europe and Australia. The B12BLE features the 12-litre Volvo DH12 engine, which is based on the D12 engine from Volvo FH trucks. The DH12D engine meets Euro 3 emission level, and DH12E meets levels 4 and 5 with SCR technology. The engine is mounted horizontally, as it was in the B10BLE. Volvo B7RLE
The Volvo B7RLE is a low-entry single-deck bus chassis manufactured by Volvo. It was superseded by the Volvo B8RLE in 2013. Specifications The Volvo B7RLE is similar to its predecessor, the B10BLE. In essence the B7RLE is the front section of the B7L chassis mated with the rear section of the B7R chassis. Originally, the B7RLE featured the D7C 6-cylinder, 7.3-litre diesel engine with a turbocharger and intercooler, producing 250 or 275 bhp and meeting the Euro III incentive emission standard. This was replaced by the 7.1-litre Volvo D7E engine producing 290 bhp, to Euro III/Euro IV/Euro V incentive emission standards. Unlike the B7L, the B7RLE's engine is mounted at the center of the rear overhang as opposed to the nearside, resolving the issue of engine intrusion into the saloon. Volvo B12MA
The Volvo B12M is an underfloor mid-engined bus/coach chassis introduced by Volvo Buses in 2002 as a replacement for the Volvo B10M. It is available with a variety of bodies such as the Van Hool T9 Alizee, Sunsundegui Sideral and Plaxton Panther/Paragon. Large British users of the B12M include Wallace Arnold, Park's Motor Group and Southern Vectis. In Brazil, the B12M replaced the B10M in articulated/bi-articulated versions, not being built in a solo bus version like its predecessors B58E and B10M, and is produced since 2004. Also, in Curitiba, there are bi-articulated buses on Volvo B12M chassis in a 28-meter configuration, making them some of the world's longest buses.
