Volda (village)
Volda is the administrative centre of the municipality of Volda, in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village is located on the northeastern shore of the Voldsfjorden, just less than south of the village of Ørsta. The village has a population (2018) of 6,433. Volda is home to the municipal administration, municipal schools, and the regional hospital. Volda University College is located there; the college enrolls about 3,000 students and specializes in education of teachers, animators, documentarists, and journalists. Volda has a shopping center as well as some industry. Volda Church is located in the central part of the village. The local newspaper is ''Avisa Møre''. The Søre Sunnmøre District Court and the Søre Sunnmøre prosti (church deanery) are based in the village of Volda. Møre Og Romsdal
Møre og Romsdal (; en, Møre and Romsdal) is a county in the northernmost part of Western Norway. It borders the counties of Trøndelag, Innlandet, and Vestland. The county administration is located in the town of Molde, while Ålesund is the largest town. The county is governed by the Møre og Romsdal County Municipality which includes an elected county council and a county mayor. The national government is represented by the county governor. Voldsfjorden
Voldsfjorden or Voldafjorden is a fjord in Volda Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The long fjord begins at the confluence of the Austefjorden and the Kilsfjorden. The Voldsfjorden reaches a maximum depth of below sea level, making it the deepest fjord in all of Sunnmøre. The fjord cuts into the mainland of Norway and it is surrounded by the Sunnmørsalpene mountains. The Dalsfjorden branches off the Voldsfjorden just south of the village of Lauvstad. The main urban area along the fjord is the village of Volda, located on the east side of the fjord. The European route E39 highway runs along the shore of part of the fjord. European route E39 is the designation of a north–south road in Norway and Denmark from Klett, just south of Trondheim, to Aalborg via Bergen, Stavanger and Kristiansand. In total, there are nine ferries, more than any other single road in Europe. In Trondheim, there are connections to European route E6, E6 and European route E14, E14. Søre Sunnmøre District Court
Søre Sunnmøre District Court ( no, Søre Sunnmøre tingrett) was a district court in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The court was based in the village of Volda. The court existed until 2021. It had jurisdiction over southern part of the county which included the municipalities of Herøy, Sande, Vanylven, Volda, and Ørsta. Cases from this court could be appealed to Frostating Court of Appeal. The court was led by the chief judge () Elisabeth Wiik. This court employed a chief judge, two other judges, and three prosecutors. The court was a court of first instance. Its judicial duties were mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. Volda Church
Volda Church ( no, Volda kyrkje; Voldskyrkja) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the municipality of Volda in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Volda, along the northeastern shore of the Voldsfjorden. It is the church for the Volda parish as well as the seat of the Søre Sunnmøre prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The large stone church was built in a long church design in 1932 using plans drawn up by the architect Arnstein Arneberg. The church seats about 800 people. Volda University College ( no, Høgskulen i Volda or HVO) is one of the no-tuition state institutions in the system of higher education in Norway. It is located in the town of Volda, Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. History HVO was established on 1 August 1994, when the Møre og Romsdal regional college and the Volda Teachers College were merged. HVO has a long tradition in Volda dating back to a teachers' training college which was first established here in 1895. The current rector is Johann Roppen and it has approximately 4,500 students and 350 employees (2020). Ørsta is the administrative centre of the municipality of Ørsta, Møre og Romsdal, Norway. The village is located at the innermost part of the Ørstafjorden, surrounded by the Sunnmørsalpene mountains.
