Vittorio Croizat
Victor (Vittorio) Croizat (1856–1915) was an engineer and industrial entrepreneur who figured prominently in the early development of public lighting and the Automotive industry in Italy, Italian automotive industry in Turin (Torino). Early life Croizat was born in Chambéry, France, to Joeseph Croizat and Clémence Vautaret. In December 1889, he married Marie Chaley in Ceyzérieu, France. French engineer Joseph Chaley was a great uncle to both Marie and Victor. Soon after their marriage, Victor and Marie emigrated to Turin, where Victor was employed by the city to develop and implement a street/city lighting plan. Career Lighting Croizat worked as an engineer in Turin, specializing in electric and gas lighting. Léon Croizat
Léon Camille Marius Croizat (July 16, 1894 – November 30, 1982) was a French-Italian scholar and botanist who developed an orthogenetic synthesis of evolution of biological form over space, in time, which he called panbiogeography. Life Croizat was born in Torino, Italy to Vittorio Croizat (aka Victor Croizat) and Maria (Marie) Chaley, who had emigrated to Turin from Chambéry, France. In spite of his great aptitude for the natural sciences, Leon studied and received a degree in law from the University of Turin. Croizat and his family (wife Lucia and two children) emigrated to the United States in 1924; an avid artist, Leon worked selling his artwork for several years, but could not succeed economically as a working artist after the stock market crash of 1929. During the 1930s, Croizat found a job identifying plants as part of a topographic inventory performed in the public parks of New York City. Peugeot-Croizat
The Peugeot-Croizat was an Italian automobile manufactured from 1906 until 1908. The automobiles were produced by Vittorio Croizat in Turin. Croizat was an engineer and sold Rambler bicycles. On December 27, 1905, he founded the company for the production of automobiles with the brand name Peugeot Croizat. Three months later the company was renamed . The president of the corporation was Giovanni Goria Gatti. In November 1907, the company was liquidated and took over the production. The company licensed vehicle designs from Peugeot, implementing their own modifications. The smallest model was the 6 hp, which corresponded to the Peugeot Type 69. However, the displacement of the single-cylinder engine was increased to 695 cc. There was also the 12/16 hp, which was based on the Peugeot Type 71. The four-cylinder engine had 2205 cc. Peugeot
Peugeot (, , ) is a French brand of automobiles owned by Stellantis. The family business that preceded the current Peugeot companies was founded in 1810, with a steel foundry that soon started making hand tools and kitchen equipment, and then bicycles. On 20 November 1858, Émile Peugeot applied for the lion trademark. Cape Guardafui ( so, Gees Gardafuul, or Raas Caseyr, or Ras Asir, it, Capo Guardafui) is a headland in the autonomous Puntland region in Somalia. Coextensive with Puntland's Gardafuul administrative province, it forms the geographical apex of the Horn of Africa. Its shore at 51°27'52"E is the second easternmost point on mainland Africa after Ras Hafun. The offshore oceanic strait Guardafui Channel (or ''Marinka Gardafuul'') is named after it. The automotive industry in Italy is a quite large employer in the country, it had over 2,131 firms and employed almost 250,000 people in 2006. Italy's automotive industry is best known for its automobile designs and small city cars, sports and supercars. The automotive industry makes a contribution of 8.5% to Italian GDP. Italy is one of the significant automobile producers both in Europe and around the world.
