Vittal Ramamurthy
Vittal Ramamurthy (Kannada : ವಿಟ್ಟಲ್ ರಾಮಮೂರ್ತಿ) is a violinist in the Carnatic music tradition of South India. Early life Ramamurthy began learning Carnatic music from his mother, Krishnaveni. He was introduced to violin by his grandfather, Sangeethabhushanam B.V. Subba Rao. He continued training under Hosahalli Venkataram and T. Rukmini. Soloist and accompanist He has performed over 6,000 concerts worldwide. He has accompanied Lalgudi Jayaraman in his vocal, violin duet and trio concerts, and has also accompanied veteran vocalists including D. K. Jayaraman, Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna, R. K. Dharmasthala
Dharmasthala (earlier known as Kuduma) is an Indian temple town on the banks of the Nethravathi River in the Belthangady taluk of the Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka, India. The town is known for its centuries old Dharmasthala Temple devoted to the Hindu god Manjunatha. There are other temples and shrines that are dedicated to Ammanavaru, Chandranath and the Dharma Daivas (guardian spirits of Dharma) — Kalarahu, Kalarkayi, Kumaraswamy and Kanyakumari. The temple is unusual in that it is a Hindu temple run by a Jain administration and poojas are conducted by Hindu priests who subscribe to the Vaishnava ideologies. Most Shiva temple are run by Shaivas as opposed to the Madhava Bhramins who are devotees of Vishnu and his avatars. On average the temple attracts around 10,000 pilgrims a day. Kadri Gopalnath
Kadri Gopalnath (6 December 1949 – 11 October 2019) was an Indian alto saxophone, alto saxophonist and one of the pioneers of Carnatic music for that instrument. Early life Born in Sajeepa Mooda village in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada to Taniyappa (a nadaswaram, Naadaswara vidwan) and Gangamma, Gopalnath was inspired to learn the saxophone as a child after hearing it played by the Mysore Palace band set, although he took nearly 20 years to master the complexities of the western wind instrument. He was eventually crowned the "Saxophone Chakravarthy". Career Gopalnath learnt to play Carnatic music on the saxophone from N. Gopalakrishna Iyer of Kalaniketan, Mangalore.
