Visible (album)
''Visible'' is an album by the Canadian progressive rock band, CANO, released in 1985. It was the band's final studio album. Marcel Aymar, David Burt, Michel Dasti and Michel Kendell were joined on ''Visible'' by Ben Mink replacing Wasyl Kohut, who had died of a brain aneurysm, and Mary Lu Zahalan replacing Rachel Paiement, who had moved to the west coast and married Jim Vallance. The album was strong and revitalized the band briefly. It included "Fond d'une bouteille", which was the French version of a song recorded on the ''Camouflage'' album, and "L'eloueze" which was written in Aymar's native Acadian dialect, and most poignantly "J'ai bien vécu", a tribute to band founder André Paiement, who died by suicide in 1978. CANO
CANO, a Canadian progressive rock band of the 1970s and 1980s, was the most successful popular musical group in Franco-Ontarian history. Origins CANO evolved out of the ''Coopérative des artistes du Nouvel-Ontario'' (''Artists' Cooperative of Northern Ontario''), an artists' collective established in Greater Sudbury, Sudbury, Ontario in 1970.Kuzyk, Jane. Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog; sometimes conflated with art rock) is a broad genre of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom and United States through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early 1970s. Marcel Aymar
Marcel Aymar (born in Meteghan, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian musician, composer, writer and actor. He moved to Sudbury, Ontario in 1972 as a teen and was a founding member of the popular Franco-Ontarian group CANO, playing guitar.Kuzyk, Jane. "That Band from Sudbury." Ben Mink
Benjamin Mink (born January 22, 1951) is a Canadian songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer best known as a longtime collaborator of Canadian singer k.d. lang. He plays several string instruments, notably the guitar, violin, and the mandolin, and is a music producer. He lives in Vancouver. Mary Lu Zahalan
Mary Lu Zahalan is a Canadian rock singer and actress. Born in Renfrew, Ontario and raised in Oakville, Ontario, Zahalan was a Miss Canada finalist in 1976 before embarking on a career as an entertainer. She is a performing arts teacher at Oakville's Sheridan College Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning (formerly Sheridan College of Applied Arts and Technology) is a public polytechnic institute of technology located in the west-Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, Canada. André Paiement
André Paiement (June 28, 1950 – January 23, 1978) was a Canadian playwright and musician. He was one of the most prominent Franco-Ontarian artists, playing a key role in developing many of the cultural institutions of the community. Biography Born in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Paiement studied translation at Laurentian University in Sudbury, and got involved in theatre. Paiement, with a group of artists that included Robert Paquette, wrote and staged the musical ''Moé, j'viens du Nord, s'tie!'' in 1970. The artists subsequently formed the ''Coopérative des artistes du Nouvel Ontario'', which evolved in a variety of directions. Some of the artists, including Paiement, established the professional theatre company Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario. Others, including Paiement and his sister Rachel, subsequently formed the progressive rock band, CANO-Musique. Paiement himself was active in both the theatre and band projects.
