Virginia State Route 80
State Route 80 is a primary state highway in the southwest part of the U.S. state of Virginia. It runs from the Kentucky state line at Breaks Interstate Park east to U.S. Route 11 near Meadowview. Kentucky Route 80 and Missouri's Route 80 continue the number west to Matthews, Missouri. The entire length of SR 80 is part of U.S. Bicycle Route 76. Route description Buchanan and Dickenson counties Kentucky Route 80 runs alongside the Russell Fork from Millard to just shy of the Virginia state line. There it turns northeasterly along the west bank of Grassy Creek, which lies inside Virginia and forms the line between Buchanan and Dickenson Counties, in order to avoid the deep gorge through Breaks Interstate Park. Route 80 soon crosses into Virginia, and continues to parallel Grassy Creek until the split with Hunts Creek, where it (and the county line) turns southeast to follow that creek. The byte is a unit of digital information that most commonly consists of eight bits. Historically, the byte was the number of bits used to encode a single character of text in a computer and for this reason it is the smallest addressable unit of memory in many computer architectures. To disambiguate arbitrarily sized bytes from the common 8-bit definition, network protocol documents such as The Internet Protocol () refer to an 8-bit byte as an octet. Those bits in an octet are usually counted with numbering from 0 to 7 or 7 to 0 depending on the bit endianness. The first bit is number 0, making the eighth bit number 7. The size of the byte has historically been hardware-dependent and no definitive standards existed that mandated the size. Sizes from 1 to 48 bits have been used. Route 80 is a state highway in southeastern Missouri. The route is located in northern New Madrid and central Mississippi Counties. Route description Route 80's western terminus is at U.S. Route 61/ 62 near Matthews, which is located midway between Sikeston and New Madrid, with a junction with I-55 located about a mile (1.6 km) to the east. Birchleaf, Virginia
Birchleaf is an unincorporated community in Dickenson County, Virginia, United States. The population was 761 at the 2000 census. Birchleaf was likely named for the birch timber in the area. Geography Birchleaf is located approximately 5 miles SE of the town of Haysi, Virginia. The Russell Fork of the Levisa River runs through the center of the community. Frequent flooding of this river has resulted in a floodplain in which most of the community is located. One of the most destructive floods occurred in 1977, the infamous "Flood of '77" as referred to by local residents. Over $20 million in damage occurred to this and other small communities along the Russell Fork River in April 1977. Education Birchleaf is served by Sandlick Elementary School and Ridgeview High School. State Route 63 (SR 63) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of Virginia. The state highway runs from U.S. Route 58 Alternate (US 58 Alternate) in St. Paul north to SR 80 and SR 83 in Haysi. Route description SR 63 begins at an intersection with US 58 Alternate (Bull Run Road) in the town of St. Paul. A concurrency in a road network is an instance of one physical roadway bearing two or more different route numbers. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. Other terminology for a concurrency includes overlap, coincidence, duplex (two concurrent routes), triplex (three concurrent routes), multiplex (any number of concurrent routes), dual routing or triple routing. Concurrent numbering can become very common in jurisdictions that allow it. Breaks, Virginia
Breaks is a small unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) mostly in Buchanan County, Virginia, United States. A small portion of the CDP is in Dickenson County. Breaks is located very close to the Kentucky border and is east of Breaks Interstate Park. Breaks gets its name in reference to the "break" in Pine Mountain, a mountain range that spans along the Kentucky-Virginia border and ends near the community of Breaks. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 144. It was in Breaks that U.S. Senator George Allen called S. R. Sidarth, a volunteer for the Jim Webb campaign and an Indian American, a macaca. This started a controversy that gained national attention.
