The Virginia Beach Piranhas were an amateur American soccer team based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States. Founded in 2006 as the Virginia Beach Submariners as part of the development system of the now-defunct USL First Division franchise, the Virginia Beach Mariners, the team played in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the South Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. From 2007 to 2010 the team was known as the Hampton Roads Piranhas. The team played its home games at Virginia Beach Sportsplex, which served as their home field starting in 2006. Virginia Beach Sportsplex
The Virginia Beach Sportsplex is a sports complex in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The name is most commonly attached to the main stadium within the complex, which opened in 1999. It has a permanent seating capacity of 6,000, on two decks of seating, though it can be expanded upwards to 17,000 for American football games. It was the first soccer-specific stadium built from the ground up in the United States. The Sportsplex is located across the street from the Princess Anne Athletic Complex and near the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater. The main stadium was the home field of the Hampton Roads Piranhas, a women's team in the W-League, which became the ''de facto'' top women's league in the country after the demise of the Women's United Soccer Association. Ocean City Nor'easters is an American soccer team based in Ocean City, New Jersey. Founded in 1996, the team currently plays in USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The team plays their home games at Carey Stadium which is located right next to the boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey. Evan Alexander Newton (born April 1, 1988) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper. Career College and amateur Newton played college soccer at Old Dominion University. Career College and Amateur Elcock attended Brooklyn Friends School, where he set the record for most goals in a season.
