Virginia's 33rd Senate District
Virginia's 33rd Senate district is one of 40 districts in the Senate of Virginia. It has been represented by Democrat Jennifer Boysko since a 2019 special election to replace fellow Democrat Jennifer Wexton, who had been elected to Congress. Geography District 33 is split between Loudoun and Fairfax Counties in the suburbs of Washington D.C., including some or all of Leesburg, Cascades, Ashburn, Sterling, Brambleton, McNair, and Herndon. Washington Dulles International Airport is also within the district lines. The district overlaps with Virginia's 10th and 11th congressional districts, and with the 10th, 32nd, 33rd, 34th, 36th, 67th, 86th, and 87th districts of the Virginia House of Delegates. Virginia's 11th congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The district stretches from Herndon to Quantico, comprising most of Fairfax County, all of the City of Fairfax, as well as part of eastern Prince William County. 2019 Virginia Senate Election
The 2019 Virginia Senate election was held on November 5, 2019, concurrently with the House election, to elect members to all 40 seats in the Senate of Virginia for the 161st Virginia General Assembly and the 162nd Virginia General Assembly. The Virginia House of Delegates is one of the two parts of the Virginia General Assembly, the other being the Senate of Virginia. It has 100 members elected for terms of two years; unlike most states, these elections take place during odd-numbered years. Virginia's 86th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. The district was established in 1982 and represents parts of Loudoun and Fairfax County.
