Viqarunnisa University
Viqarunnisa University ( bn, ভিকারুননিসা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a private university in Bangladesh. It was established in 2001. The university is on Bailey Road, Dhaka. Former member of the national parliament of Bangladesh and businessman Dr HBM Iqbal is the chairman of the Viqarunnisa University Foundation. In 2002, the University Grants Commission (UGC) brought allegations of in setting up the institution against the chairman. In 2003, the supreme court asked concerned authorities to reopen the university. The university is named after the prominent Austrian Pakistani social worker, Viqar un Nisa Noon Begum Viqar un Nisa (also known as Victoria Rekha or ‘Lady Noon’; 1920 – 16 January 2000) was the Spouse of the Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1957 to 1958. Bailey Road, Dhaka
''Bailey Road'' is a well-known thoroughfare in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. It is a classic road in Dhaka. It runs through Shantinagar, connecting the Kakrail-Ramna road with the Siddheshwari junction. It is generally regarded as one of the classier areas of the city. The Bailey Road is considered as two distinct roads, one after another, they are the new Bailey Road and the Bailey Road. HBM Iqbal
HBM Iqbal is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and former Member of Parliament from Ramna- Tejgaon, Dhaka. Biography Iqbal was elected from Dhaka-10 in 1996. He faced criticism after shots were fired from his rally on a rally of then opposition party, Bangladesh Nationalist Party, in 2001. Four people in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party rally were killed in the shooting. He was charged in 2003, but the case was dropped in 2010 after the Ministry of Home Affairs recommended charges be dropped in 2009. In 2007, he was charged with corruption by the Bangladesh Anti Corruption Commission (ACC). The High Court acquitted him in 2011. Viqar Un Nisa Noon
Begum Viqar un Nisa (also known as Victoria Rekha or ‘Lady Noon’; 1920 – 16 January 2000) was the Spouse of the Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1957 to 1958. By profession, she was a social worker. She married 7th Pakistani Prime Minister Sir Feroz Khan Noon in 1945 and also participated in the Pakistan Movement, which led to the creation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Viqar was an Austrian by birth and origin, and was born as Victoria in July 1920. Involvement with Pakistan Movement After her marriage, she converted to Islam, and renamed herself from Victoria to Viqar un Nisa. The Noons left Delhi the same year after Sir Feroz Khan Noon resigned from the Indian Viceroy's cabinet, and moved to Lahore. Viqarunnisa Noon School and College ( bn, ভিকারুননিসা নূন স্কুল এন্ড কলেজ), also known as VNSC, is an all-girls higher secondary school and college in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has 25,000 students at four campuses in the city. It is named after Viqar un Nisa Noon. History The school began as Ramna Preparatory School in 1947. Austrian Pakistani social worker Begum Viqar un Nisa Noon, wife of the then-governor of East Pakistan, Firoz Khan Noon, was impressed when she visited in 1950. With her support the school moved to its current Baily Road location, where it was renamed in her honour.
