Vipindas
Vipindas (1938 – 12 February 2011) was an Indian cinematographer and director. He has cinematographed more than 200 films in Malayalam alone, and has directed a couple of films. Biography Vipindas was born in 1938 in Pazhayannur, Thrissur, Kerala, as the son of Pallippatta Sankaran Nair and Lakshmi Amma. At the age of 15, he went to Madras (now Chennai) to study photography. He had no formal education in photography but was able to assist veteran Bollywood cinematographer Beevashom for three years. Vipindas started his film career with the Tamil film ''Thalattu'', which he also directed. He debuted in Malayalam through ''Prethangalude Thazhvara'' by P.Venu. It was followed by ''Prathidhwani'', directed by him but filmed by veteran director I. V. Sasi. This film established the successful collaboration of Sasi and Vipindas. Avalude Ravukal
''Avalude Ravukal'' () is a 1978 Indian Malayalam-language drama film directed by I. V. Sasi and written by A. Sheriff. The film explores the life of Raji ( Seema), a teenage prostitute and those of the people around her. Upon release, the film received less audience in the first three days but the situation changed in the coming days and it became one of the highest-grossing films of the year. It is considered one of the boldest Malayalam films of all time. Sasi, the experimental and the most popular director at that time, tried to highlight a theme which most mainstream directors are afraid to get into. Kamal Haasan and I. V. Irupatham Noottandu
''Irupatham Noottandu'' () is a 1987 Indian Malayalam-language gangster film directed by K. Madhu, written by S. N. Swamy and produced by M. Mani. It stars Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, and Ambika. The film's music was composed by Shyam. The plot follows Sagar Alias Jacky, a maverick youth who runs a gold smuggling racket for Sekharankutty, the son of the Chief Minister of Kerala. Their relationship stains after the latter brings narcotics into the business. ''Irupatham Noottandu'' was released on 14 May 1987 and became the highest grossing Malayalam film at that time and also enjoys a cult following in Malayalam cinema. ''Manimuzhakkam'' () is a 1976 Malayalam-language film directed by P. A. Backer and starring Harikeshan Thampi, Veeran, Johnson, Sankaradi, Saritha, Urmila, Vani, cyril P Jacob, Charulatha, Santhakumari, Sreenivasan and Meena Ganesh. This is the debut film of Sreenivasan. ''Oru CBI Diary Kurippu'' () is a 1988 Indian Malayalam-language mystery thriller film directed by K. Madhu, written by S. N. Swamy, and starring Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Jagathy Sreekumar, Mukesh, and Sukumaran. The lead character, CBI officer Sethurama Iyer is inspired by a police officer named Radha Vinod Raju, Jammu and Kashmir cadre IPS Officer who in 2009 was appointed as the first chief of India's National Investigation Agency.
