Oru CBI Diary Kurippu
''Oru CBI Diary Kurippu'' () is a 1988 Indian Malayalam-language mystery thriller film directed by K. Madhu, written by S. N. Swamy, and starring Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Jagathy Sreekumar, Mukesh, and Sukumaran. The lead character, CBI officer Sethurama Iyer is inspired by a police officer named Radha Vinod Raju, Jammu and Kashmir cadre IPS Officer who in 2009 was appointed as the first chief of India's National Investigation Agency. It was the highest grossing Malayalam film at that time. Considered one of the best crime thrillers in Malayalam, it eventually developed a cult following. This is the first instalment in the ''CBI'' film series featuring Mammootty as Sethurama Iyer. It was produced by M. Mani under the banner Sunitha Productions. Muhammad Kutty Panaparambil Ismail (; born 7 September 1951), known mononymously by the hypocorism Mammootty (), is an Indian actor and film producer who works predominantly in Malayalam cinema, Malayalam films. He has also appeared in Tamil language, Tamil, Telugu language, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and English-language productions. In a career spanning five decades, he has acted in over 400 films. He is the recipient of List of awards and nominations received by Mammootty, several accolades, including three National Film Awards, seven Kerala State Film Awards, and thirteen Filmfare Awards South. ''Jagratha: CBI Diary - Part 2'' (transl. Warning) is a 1989 Indian Malayalam-language investigative thriller film directed by K. Madhu, starring Mammootty, Mukesh and Jagathy Sreekumar. It is the second movie in the CBI investigative thrillers series serving as a sequel to ''Oru CBI Diary Kurippu'' released in 1988. Mammootty reprises his role as the CBI officer Sethurama Iyer. Three more sequels were produced in the CBI series: ''Sethurama Iyer CBI'' (2004), ''Nerariyan CBI'' (2005) and CBI 5: The Brain (2022).
