Vincenzo Franchitti
Vincenzo Franchitti (born 22 May 1950) is an Italian former professional tennis player. Franchitti competed on the international tour in the 1970s and was a two-time Florence quarter-finalist. His best career win came against Björn Borg at the Bologna Indoor The Bologna Indoor is a defunct WCT and Grand Prix affiliated men's tennis tournament played from 1971 to 1981. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The ATP Florence used to be a defunct men's tennis tournament that was played on the Rothman's Spring Mediterranean circuit in 1973, the Grand Prix tennis circuit from 1974 through 1989 and the ATP Tour 1990 through 1994. The tournament was held in Florence, Italy and was competed on outdoor clay courts. From 1973 through 1989, it was played in the weeks preceding the French Open; however, from 1990, it was played the week immediately after. Björn Borg
Björn Rune Borg (; born 6 June 1956) is a Swedish former world No. 1 tennis player. Between 1974 and 1981, he became the first man in the Open Era to win 11 Grand Slam singles titles with six at the French Open and five consecutively at Wimbledon. Borg won four consecutive French Open titles (1978–81) and is 6–0 in French Open finals. He was the first man since 1886 to contest six consecutive Wimbledon finals, a record surpassed by Roger Federer's seven consecutive finals (2003–09). He is the only man to achieve the Channel Slam three times. Borg contested the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open finals in the same year three times (1978, 1980–81). Adriano Panatta
Adriano Panatta (born 9 July 1950) is a former professional tennis player from Italy. He won the French Open in 1976, and was the only player ever to defeat Björn Borg at Roland Garros, doing so on two occasions. He is also the only Italian man to win a men's singles Grand Slam title in the Open Era. He is currently a regular guest of the RAI broadcast '' Quelli che... il Calcio'' from 2018 to 2021. Career Panatta was born in Rome. His father was the caretaker of the ''Tennis Club Parioli'', and as a youngster he learned to play the game on the club's clay courts. He became a successful European junior player before turning professional.
