Village Green
A village green is a commons, common open area within a village or other settlement. Historically, a village green was common pasture, grassland with a pond for watering cattle and other stock, often at the edge of a rural settlement, used for gathering cattle to bring them later on to a common land for grazing. Later, planned greens were built into the centres of villages. The village green also provided, and may still provide, an open-air meeting place for the local people, which may be used for public celebrations such as May Day festivities. Village Green is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Onondaga County, New York, United States. The population was 3,891 at the 2010 census. Village Green is in the eastern part of the town of Van Buren. Geography Village Green is located at (43.131717, -76.308592). According to the United States Census Bureau, the region has a total area of , all land. The village is south of the Seneca River and southeast of Baldwinsville. Most of the community is between Interstate 690 and New York State Route 48. Village Green, originally named Baldwin Hills Village, is a neighborhood at the foot of Baldwin Hills, within the city of Los Angeles, California. Village Green consists of a large condominium complex that is both a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument and a National Historic Landmark. Designed in the late 1930s and built out by 1942, it is one of the oldest planned communities of its type in the nation. Village Green was named by The American Institute of Architects as one of the 100 most important architectural achievements in U.S. history. Village Green, Christchurch
Village Green was a cricket venue in Christchurch. It is a back-up first-class cricket ground in New Zealand. It was the home of the District's first class cricket team, the State Canterbury Wizards. Village Green is part of the main stadium of Queen Elizabeth II Park, and was often used for inter-provincial competition when the AMI Stadium was unavailable for use.
