Vila Real, Portugal
Vila Real () is the capital and largest city of the Vila Real District, in the North region. It is also the seat of the Douro intermunicipal community and of the Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro historical province. The Vila Real municipality covers an area of and is home to an estimated population of 49,574 (2021), of which about 30,000 live in the urban area (2021). The city is located in a plateau 450 m (1,510 ft) high, over the promontory formed by the gorges of the Corgo and Cabril rivers, where the oldest part of town (Vila Velha) is located, framed by the escarpments of the Corgo gorge. Portimão Airport is a small airport in ''Montes de Alvor'', near the city of Portimão in Algarve, Portugal. The airport has one single short asphalt runway in the 11/29 direction and is mainly used by general aviation, with parachuting being common from the airfield. The local mayor of Portimão, Ilse Gomes, revealed plans to expand the aerodrome and have it become a landing spot for the nearby Algarve International Racetrack (AIA).
