Viktoria (singer)
Viktoria (born Teresita Viktoria Elizaga Agbayani on July 28, 1969) is a Filipina singer. Early life From the political clan of the Agbayani of Pangasinan, Viktoria started her singing career at age 17. While pursuing her singing career, she managed to finish a Mass communications degree at the University of the Philippines. She is the youngest daughter of Former Governor Aguedo F. Agbayani of Pangasinan. Discography Viktoria first recognition in the Philippines with her music video "Sasabihin Ko Na". Her initial release was soon followed by two other music videos "Dahan Dahan” and "Tender Kisses". Her albums spawned singles such as "Dahan Dahan", "Sana", "Pwede Ba", and "To Be Near You", the single from the Soundtrack of the Hollywood TV series "Felicity". History PolyEast Records was established in 1977 as Canary Records by Orly Ilacad after leaving Vicor Music Corporation due to a major conflict with co-founder and then co-owner Vic del Rosario. Warner Music Philippines (WMP) is a record label in the Philippines. It is a regional branch of the multinational music conglomerate Warner Music Group. Founded in 1977, the company gained its self-distributed status and has since began releases of several Filipino music artists and bands. The label has been switched to digital-only releases since the 2010s. History WMG, then known as WEA International, established WEA Records Philippines under a distribution/license agreement for 15 years with a local group led by Bella Dy Tan. Awit Awards
The Awit Awards are music awards in the Philippines given annually by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) to recognize the outstanding achievements in the music industry. The word "Awit" means "song" literally in Filipino. The first awards were given in 1969 at a ceremony in Makati. After three awards ceremonies were held, the Awit Awards were discontinued in 1972. In 1988, PARI brought back the awards and today, the organization still handles these awards. History The idea for Awit Awards was conceived by Oskar "Oskee" Salazar, the Billboard correspondent for the Philippines at that time, in late 1968. The first awards ceremony was held on March 23, 1969, that took place in Makati.
