Vikki Bunce
Vikki Bunce (born 12 February 1983, in Dundee), is a former Scottish international field hockey player who played as a forward for Scotland. She plays club hockey for Dundee Wanderers. She was a member of the Scotland team which failed to qualify for the World Hockey Cup at the 2006 Women's Hockey World Cup Qualifier in Rome, Italy. Scotland finished in tenth position. In January 2014, she was the captain of the Scotland team. Dundee
Dundee (; sco, Dundee; gd, Dùn Dè or ) is Scotland's fourth-largest city and the 51st-most-populous built-up area in the United Kingdom. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. Scotland Women's National Field Hockey Team
The Scotland women's national field hockey team represents Scotland in international women's field hockey competitions, with the exception of the Olympic Games when Scottish players are eligible to play for the Great Britain women's national field hockey team as selected. Scotland recently participated in the inaugural season of the FIH Hockey World League, but were knocked out in round 2, failing to qualify for the 2014 Hockey World Cup in The Hague, Netherlands. they are seventeenth in the FIH outdoor world rankings. World Hockey Cup
The Men's FIH Hockey World Cup is an international field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The tournament was started in 1971. It is held every four years, bridging the four years between the Summer Olympics. Pakistan is the most successful team, having won the tournament four times. The Netherlands and Australia have each won three titles, and Germany has won two titles. Belgium and India have both won the tournament once. The 2018 tournament was held in Bhubaneswar, India from 28 November to 16 December. Belgium defeated Netherlands in a penalty shoot-out 3–2 after the match ended in a 0–0 draw to win their first World Cup title. 2006 Women's Hockey World Cup Qualifier
The 2006 Women's Hockey Intercontinental Cup was the seventh edition of the women's field hockey tournament. The event was held from 25 April–6 May, in Rome, Italy. England won the tournament for the second time after defeating South Korea 2–1 in the final. Japan finished in third place, defeating the United States 4–1. The tournament served as a qualifier for the 2006 FIH World Cup in Madrid, with the top five teams qualifying automatically.
