Vijayawada (rural) mandal is one of the 20 mandals in NTR district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is under the administration of Vijayawada revenue division and has its headquarters at Nunna. The mandal is bounded by Ibrahimpatnam, G. Konduru, Gannavaram, Kankipadu, Penamaluru and Patamata ( Vijayawada east) Mandals. The mandal is also a part of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region under the jurisdiction of APCRDA. The decennial Census of India has been conducted 16 times, as of 2021. While it has been undertaken every 10 years, beginning in 1872 under British Viceroy Lord Mayo, the first complete census was taken in 1881.
