Victoria Schultz
Victoria Schultz (born in Helsinki, Finland), is a photographer and documentary film producer. She attended a school run by nuns from St. Louis, Missouri and studied at the University of Helsinki where she received a master's degree in languages and literature. She wrote her master's thesis in 1964 on the work of the African American writer James Baldwin. In 1967, she arrived in New York where she obtained another master's from Columbia University School of Journalism. It was there that she focused on film and photography that centered on social upheavals. Early life Growing up, Schultz had a passion for books, comics and magazines that combined images and texts. Also as and avid movie-goer she developed her love for strong, visual narration. As she became a documentary filmmaker, she focused first on developing factual stories. Zapatista Army Of National Liberation
The Zapatista Army of National Liberation (, EZLN), often referred to as the Zapatistas (Mexican ), is a far-left political and militant group that controls a substantial amount of territory in Chiapas, the southernmost state of Mexico. Since 1994, the group has been nominally at war with the Mexican state (although it may be described at this point as a frozen conflict). The EZLN used a strategy of civil resistance. San Cristóbal de las Casas (), also known by its native Tzotzil name, Jovel (), is a town and municipality located in the Central Highlands region of the Mexican state of Chiapas.
