''Victoria'' (German: ''Viktoria'') is a 1935 German drama film directed by Carl Hoffmann and starring Luise Ullrich, Mathias Wieman and Alfred Abel.The BFI companion to German cinema p.165 It is an adaptation of Knut Hamsun's ''Victoria''. It was made at the Johannisthal Studios of Tobis Film in Berlin. The film's sets were designed by the art director Kurt Herlth and Werner Schlichting. It was shot on location in Bergen in Norway. Margarete Schön (born Margarethe Schippang; 7 April 1895 – 26 December 1985) was a German stage and film actress whose career spanned nearly fifty years. She is internationally recognized for her role as Kriemhild in director Fritz Lang's ''Die Nibelungen'' series of two silent fantasy films, ''Die Nibelungen: Siegfried'' and ''Nibelungen: Kriemhild's Revenge''. Stage career Born in Magdeburg, Germany as Margarethe Schippang, she received private acting lessons with the theatre actor Hans Calm in Dessau. In 1912 she made her stage debut in Bad Freienwalde. Shortly thereafter, she received a commitment at the municipal theater of Bromberg (now, Bydgoszcz, in present-day Poland). Heinz von Cleve (27 June 1897 – 9 October 1984) was a German stage and film actor.Goble p.293 Life Cleve was the son of Gottlieb von Cleve, a young officer in the 2nd Dragoon Regiment, by his marriage to Elisabeth zu Dobeneck. He attended schools in his home town of Schwedt, Elbing, and Stettin, then in 1914 joined the 4th Guards Field Artillery Regiment in Potsdam and in 1915 was promoted to lieutenant. In July 1915 he was wounded at Krasnostaw, during the Mackensen Offensive, and later served on the Western Front, receiving the Iron Cross, First and Second Class. After the war, Cleve tried a banking career, then studied law and economics at Munich. In 1925 he gained a job with an Association of Industrialists in Dresden. In 1928 he became a stage actor, appearing in productions in Meissen, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Görlitz, and Berlin. Theodor Loos
Theodor August Konrad Loos (18 May 1883 – 27 June 1954) was a German actor. The son of a watchmaker and instruments manufacturer, he left secondary school prematurely and worked for three years at an export firm for music instruments in Leipzig, and after that for his uncle, an art dealer in Berlin. He decided though to become an actor. His theater engagements led him to Leipzig, Danzig and Frankfurt am Main, then to Berlin where he acted from 1912 to 1945 at different theaters. In the 1930s he could be seen performing in classic theater, on over 400 occasions in Peer Gynt alone. From 1913 he performed in more than 170 feature films, initially silent films. He remains perhaps best-known for his numerous roles in the films of Fritz Lang. During the Third Reich Loos was a member of the Advisory Council (Präsidialrat) of the president of the Reichsfilmkammer. After the end of the war, Loos returned to the theater. Erna Morena (born Ernestine Maria Fuchs, 24 April 1885 – 20 July 1962) was a German film actress, film producer, and screenwriter of the silent era. She appeared in 104 films between 1913 and 1951. Biography Ernestine Maria Fuchs was born into the middle-class family of Eugenie Fuchs (née. Seyler, 1862–1951) and Friedrich Fuchs (1859–1895) on 24 April 1885. She had a younger brother, Friedrich Fuchs (1890–1948), who became a Brentano researcher. Fuchs went to Munich at age 17 to attend the school of applied arts. She later spent half a year in Paris before moving to Berlin in 1909, where she worked as a nurse. She took lessons at the drama school of the German Theater in Berlin, and was hired by Max Reinhardt in 1910 as an actress.
