Victoria, Texas Metropolitan Area
The Victoria Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of three counties in the Coastal Bend region of Texas, anchored by the city of Victoria. The area is sometimes referred to as the Golden Crescent Region, though this term is sometimes used to refer to a larger area than just these 3 counties. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 111,663 (though a July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 115,396). Alamo Beach, Texas
Alamo Beach is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Calhoun County, Texas, United States. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 254. It is located just north of the junction of Farm Roads 2717 and 2760, approximately two miles southeast of Port Lavaca and northwest of Magnolia Beach. The community is situated along the waterfront of Lavaca Bay. It is part of the Victoria, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area. Today, Alamo Beach is a lightly populated, but developing bay front community. Port O'Connor, Texas
Port O'Connor is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Calhoun County, Texas, United States, near the Gulf coastline between Galveston and Corpus Christi. The CDP had a population of 1,253 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Victoria, Texas metropolitan statistical area. History Port O'Connor was laid out in the late 19th century as a fishing settlement called "Alligator Head". As it grew in popularity with both permanent residents and tourists, the community took on more municipal characteristics, earning the formal designation finally in 1909 as the town site of Port O'Connor. It was named after its main landowner at the time, Thomas M. O'Connor, who owned . Aside from local cattle raising and fishing, the town was also a producer of figs and citrus fruit. Placedo is a census-designated place (CDP) in Victoria County, Texas, United States. This was a new CDP for the 2010 census with a population of 692. It is part of the Victoria, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Placedo is located at (28.691936, -96.825904). It is situated along U.S. Highway 87 in southeastern Victoria County, approximately 14 miles southeast of Victoria. The CDP has a total area of , all land. History A settlement has existed at the site since the Republic of Texas era. The community is named for Plácido Benavides, a participant and organizer of volunteer troops in the Texas Revolution, and an early settler who established a ranch in the area during the 1830s. Indianola, Texas
Indianola is a ghost town located on Matagorda Bay in Calhoun County, Texas, United States. The community, once the county seat of Calhoun County, is a part of the Victoria, Texas, Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1875, the city had a population of 5,000, but on September 15 of that year, a powerful hurricane struck, killing between 150 and 300 and almost entirely destroying the town. Indianola was rebuilt, only to be wiped out on August 19, 1886, by another intense hurricane, which was followed by a fire. Guadalupe County (, ) is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 172,706. The county seat is Seguin. The county was founded in 1846 and is named after Guadalupe River. Guadalupe County is part of the San Antonio metropolitan statistical area.
