Vicki Jensen
Vicki Jensen (born 1965) is a Minnesota politician and former member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, she represented District 24 in southeastern Minnesota. Education and early career Jensen attended South Central Technical College. She served on the Owatonna School Board. She and her husband own an independent insurance agency in Owatonna. Minnesota Senate Jensen was first elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2012. She lost re-election to Republican John Jasinski in 2016. Jensen sought the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House seat for Minnesota's 1st congressional district in the 2018 election, but later dropped out of the race. Owatonna () is a city in Steele County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 25,599 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Steele County. Owatonna is home to the Steele County Fairgrounds, which hosts the Steele County Free Fair in August. Interstate 35 and U.S. Highways 14, and 218 are three of the main routes in the city. The 2018 United States House of Representatives elections were held on November 6, 2018, as part of the 2018 midterm elections during President Donald Trump's term, with early voting taking place in some states in the weeks preceding that date. Minnesota's 1st congressional district extends across southern Minnesota from the border with South Dakota to the border with Wisconsin. It is a primarily rural district built on a strong history of agriculture, though this is changing rapidly due to strong population growth in the Rochester combined statistical area. The district is also home to several of Minnesota's major mid-sized cities, including Rochester, Mankato, Winona, Austin, Owatonna, Albert Lea, New Ulm, and Worthington. It was represented by Republican Jim Hagedorn of Blue Earth from 2019 until his death on February 17, 2022. John R. Jasinski ( ; born June 24, 1966) is an American politician and member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, he represents District 24 in southeastern Minnesota. Early life, education, and career Jasinski was born on June 24, 1966, and raised in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School and attended the University of Minnesota Duluth and Minnesota State University, Mankato. Jasinski was in the Navy for four years. He was previously a member of the Faribault Planning Commission, the Faribault Economic Development Authority, and the Faribault City Council from 1996 to 1998.
