Vicente Castelló
Vicente Castelló (c. 1585, Valencia - 1636, Valencia) was a Spanish painter in the Baroque art, Baroque style. He was a son-in-law of Francisco Ribalta, whose painting style was similar; as was that of his brother-in-law, Juan Ribalta, leading to a misattribution of many of his paintings. He was virtually forgotten until these errors were corrected. Biography His father, Salvador, was a painter from Aragón who came to Valencia just before Vicente's birth. His mother, Jerónima Comes, was the daughter of Jerónimo Comes, also a painter. It is likely that his father worked, at least temporarily, for Francisco Ribalta. In 1616, he was inscribed on the list of the College of Painters. After 1620, he worked in Segorbe, together with Juan Ribalta and Abdón Castañeda. The three also created an altarpiece in Andilla, completed in 1626, and painted two images (now lost) for the chapel of the Communion at the Segorbe Cathedral. Vicente Castell Doménech (5 May 1871 – 18 January 1934) was a Spanish painter in the costumbrista style. Biography He was born in a lower-middle-class neighborhood in Castellón de la Plana where most of the residents, including his parents, engaged in handicrafts. Porta Coeli Charterhouse
Porta Coeli Charterhouse, Cartuja de Porta Coeli or Cartuja Santa María de Porta Coeli, is a functioning Carthusian order, Carthusian monastery located on a rural site of the municipality of Serra, Valencia, Serra de Porta Coeli in the province of Valencia, Spain. The name of the charterhouse, ''Porta Coeli'', means ''door of heaven''. History The monastery was founded in 1272 under the sponsorship of Andrés Albalat, Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Valencia in Spain, Bishop of Valencia and confessor of James I of Aragon. From this monastery came the monks to found the charterhouses of Ara Christi Charterhouse, Ara Christi and Via Coeli. Porta Coeli also produced two prominent leaders of the order: Father Bonifacio Ferrer (1402-1410), brother of Saint Vincent Ferrer, and Francisco Maresme (1437-1463). Pedro De Orrente
Pedro de Orrente (April 1580 – 19 January 1645) was a Spanish painter of the early Baroque period. He became one of the first artists in that part of Spain to paint in a Realism (arts), Naturalistic style. Biography He was born in April 1580 in Murcia. His father, Jaime de Horrente, was a merchant from Marseille who had settled in Murcia in 1573. There is some documentary evidence that he was the friend of an otherwise unknown painter named Juan de Arizmendi, who probably gave Pedro his first lessons. By 1600, Pedro was in Toledo, Spain, Toledo, where he was hired to create an altarpiece in the village of Guadarrama. It has not been preserved. He attracted little more attention until 1604, when a certain Jerónimo de Castro wrote a promise to pay Pedro's father for work that Pedro had recently done.
