Vic Gonsalves
Victor Albert "Vic" Gonsalves (20 October 1887, Cheribon – 29 August 1922, Amsterdam) was a Dutch amateur association football player. Between 1906 and 1923 he played 86 matches for HBS Craeyenhout. He was nicknamed "de Prins" (the Prince) and known as a midfielder with a decent pass. He suffered with health problems and died at the age of 34. Cheribon
Cirebon (, formerly rendered Cheribon or Chirebon in English) is a port city on the northern coast of the Indonesian island of Java. It is the only coastal city of West Java, located about 40 km west of the provincial border with Central Java, approximately east of Jakarta, at . At the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, England, an official football tournament between national representative selections was contested for the first time; football had been played between club teams at the Games of 1900 and 1904. Eight entries were accepted, and were included in the tournament draw, including two from France: the main team and a B team. Both Hungary and Bohemia both withdrew after the draw and before the start of play, leaving six teams to contest the tournament. Great Britain won the gold medal representing the United Kingdom ( Great Britain and Ireland), although all the players were from England. Sophus "Krølben" Nielsen of Denmark set a record by scoring 10 goals in a 17–1 win over France A.
