Sometimes, a record label is also a publishing company that manages such brands and trademarks, coordinates the produ ... shortly after Lisa Zbitnew became president of the Canadian arm of BMG, which was then the owner of RCA Records. Its notable artists included: McMaster & James, Tom Green, Treble Charger, Jacksoul, Shawn Desman, Rascalz and Keshia Chanté. Most of its roster were absorbed into Sony BMG Music Canada, following the merger of Sony and BMG in 2004 in music, 2004 and the appointment of Lisa Zbitnew to President and CEO of Sony BMG Music Canada the same year. Treble Charger
Treble Charger is a Canadian rock band formed in 1992 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Greig Nori, vocalist and guitarist Bill Priddle, bassist Rosie Martin and drummer Richard Mulligan. They began with a melodic indie rock style but evolved into more of a pop punk band after signing to a major label in 1997. They disbanded in 2006 and reunited in 2012. Between 1996 and 2016, Treble Charger was among the Top 150 selling Canadian artists in Canada. History Early years (1992–1996) Originally from Sault Ste. Keshia Chanté Harper (born June 16, 1988) is a Canadian singer, television host, actress, songwriter and philanthropist. Rascalz
Rascalz are a Canadian hip-hop group from Vancouver, British Columbia. The group played a crucial role in the artistic and commercial development of Canadian hip hop as well as specifically for the Westcoast scene in Vancouver popularizing the term “Van City”. The group consists of emcees Red1 and Misfit, and record producer DJ Kemo. Breakdancers Zebroc and Dedos were also part of the group. History Formed in 1991, the group released an independent album for Calabash Records in 1992. The album, ''Really Livin'', was recorded under the name of Ragga Muffin Rascals, and a reworked major label recording was released the following year in 1993 by Sony Music Canada. Shawn Bosco Fernandes (born January 12, 1982), better known by his stage name Shawn Desman, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, dancer, and television personality. He was signed to Universal Music Canada. He is known for his energetic stage presence and tenor voice. Career Shawn Desman attended St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School in Toronto, where he took part in many talent shows and events. In 1998, Shawn Fernandes was in the Boomtang Boys video for their song "Squeezetoy" as a dancer. He had a few recordings in English and Portuguese under his real name Shawn Fernandes before adopting the name Desman. According to his own account, he adopted the name Desman because in his youth his friends referred to him as "Dez, man" – thus creating his artistic pseudonym Desman. Jacksoul, sometimes stylized as jackSOUL, was a Canadians, Canadian soul music, soul and Contemporary R&B, R&B music group formed in 1995 in Toronto. The band was fronted by singer Haydain Neale and was a multi-recipient of the Juno Award. Biography In 1996, Jacksoul released their debut album, ''Absolute''. BMG Music Canada was the Canadian division of BMG, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. History BMG was formed in 1970. In 1986, it acquired RCA Records. In the acquisition, the company acquired RCA Victor Ltd. to form BMG Music Canada as part of a worldwide renaming of RCA's international division to BMG. The next year BMG created a Canadian division of Ariola Records with BMG International, N.V. McMaster & James
McMaster & James was a Canadian soul/pop "boy band" music duo from Winnipeg, Manitoba. History Luke McMaster (born 22 March 1976) and Rob James (born 30 October 1977) met in 1997 through Winnipeg-based producer Chris Burke-Gaffney and began collaborating as Two Face, later performing and recording under their combined names. Their gold, self-titled debut CD, released in February 2000 on ViK. Recordings, a domestic label formed by BMG Music Canada, a subsidiary of BMG, yielded the hits "Love Wins Everytime", "Thank You,", "I Understand" and "Sweet Sensation" which were well received by Canadian radio.
