BMG Music Canada was the Canadian division of BMG, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. History BMG was formed in 1970. In 1986, it acquired RCA Records. In the acquisition, the company acquired RCA Victor Ltd. to form BMG Music Canada as part of a worldwide renaming of RCA's international division to BMG. The next year BMG created a Canadian division of Ariola Records with BMG International, N.V. Previously working for Henri Dès albums, it acquired the Lanoraie, Quebec-based Interdisc Distribution Inc. to form BMG Québec, in 1990, originally as BMG Musique du Québec under the direction of Nicolas Ferrier. Lanoraie is a town in the Lanaudière region of Quebec, Canada, part of the D'Autray Regional County Municipality. History When Jacques Cartier passed through in the 16th century, the Iroquois had already established themselves in the area, calling it ''Agochanda'' or ''Agouchonda'', meaning "place where one stops to eat and rest". It was also in this area in 1642 that Isaac Jogues was abducted by the Mohawks along with Guillaume Couture and René Goupil, and taken into captivity and tortured. Treble Charger is a Canadian rock band formed in 1992 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Greig Nori, vocalist and guitarist Bill Priddle, bassist Rosie Martin and drummer Richard Mulligan. They began with a melodic indie rock style but evolved into more of a pop punk band after signing to a major label in 1997. They disbanded in 2006 and reunited in 2012. Henri Dès (born 14 December 1940 in Renens, Vaud, Switzerland as Henri Destraz) is a Swiss French-language children's singer and songwriter immensely popular in European Francophone countries. In 1970, he released his first album, ''Retour''. Dès also founded his own record label, Disques Mary-Josée, which he named after his wife. In 1969, he won the Sopot International Song Festival. He represented Switzerland in the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Retour". It was placed fourth.
