Vesna Bugarski
Vesna Bugarski (2 May 1930 – 22 August 1992) was a Bosnian architect. She was Bosnia and Herzegovina's first ever female architect. Biography Bugarski was born in Sarajevo. After embarking on her studies in Belgrade where she was the only woman to study architecture, Bugarski graduated in Sarajevo in 1964 after an architecture department had opened there. Her first employment was with ''Prosperitet'', a planning and design firm in Sarajevo. She then worked in Denmark for several years, specializing in interior design, before returning to Sarajevo where she began weaving tapestries while continuing to design interiors for offices and apartments. In August 1992 during the Bosnian War, while walking home from the market in Sarajevo, she was killed by a grenade fired from the hills. Most of her work in Sarajevo was destroyed during the war. Bosnians (Bosnian language: / ; / , / ) are people identified with the country of Bosnia and Herzegovina or with the region of Bosnia. As a common demonym, the term ''Bosnians'' refers to all inhabitants/citizens of the country, regardless of any ethnic, cultural or religious affiliation. It can also be used as a designation for anyone who is descended from the region of Bosnia. The Bosnian War ( sh, Rat u Bosni i Hercegovini / Рат у Босни и Херцеговини) was an international armed conflict that took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina between 1992 and 1995. The war is commonly seen as having started on 6 April 1992, following a number of earlier violent incidents. The war ended on 14 December 1995 when the Dayton accords were signed. Ranko Bugarski
Ranko Bugarski () is a Serbian linguist, academic and author. Life and career He was born on 1 January 1933 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, where he completed his secondary education and graduated in English and German languages and literatures at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo (1957). After working for three years as a teacher of English at the Institute of Foreign Languages in his hometown, he was appointed by the Department of English, Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade as a teaching assistant (1961), to progress through the academic hierarchy to the rank of Professor of English (1980). In 1988 he also became Professor of General Linguistics in the same institution, in a new department which he was instrumental in setting up. He retired in 2000 but remained academically active in different ways for many years thereafter.
