Vermont Wild
The Vermont Wild was a team in the Federal Hockey League in the 2011-12 season. Based in Morrisville, Vermont, the team — originally dubbed the Green Mountain Rock Crushers — played their home games at the Green Mountain Arena. Both the team and the arena were owned by Randall J. Latona, a former owner of the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League and the Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League. The Wild was the only professional ice hockey team ever to be based in the state of Vermont. Morrisville, Vermont
Morrisville is a village in the town of Morristown, Lamoille County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, the village population was 2,086. Morrisville has two country clubs, a hospital, a school featuring Greek architecture and an airport. Morrisville is the headquarters for Union Bank. History Morrisville was settled in 1798. The Morrisville Historic District is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The hospital and one of the country clubs are named after Alexander Copley, a philanthropist who donated much of the money for their construction. Copley also donated a large sum of money for the construction of the town's high school that is currently called Peoples Academy. The Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) is a professional ice hockey independent minor league with teams in the Midwestern, Southern, and Northeastern United States. The FPHL began operations in November 2010 as the Federal Hockey League. Don Kirnan is the league's commissioner. Rochester Americans
The Rochester Americans (colloquially known as the Amerks) are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League; the team is an owned and operated affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres. The team plays its home games in Rochester, New York, at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. The Americans are the fourth oldest franchise in the AHL, and have the second longest continuous tenure among AHL teams in their current locations after the Hershey Bears. Rochester was awarded a new franchise in June 1956, when the Pittsburgh Hornets were forced to suspend operations after their arena, the Duquesne Gardens was razed in an urban renewal project. The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). The Rochester Knighthawks (also known as the K-Hawks) are a professional box lacrosse team in the North Division of the National Lacrosse League. They play in Rochester, New York at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. The Knighthawks are owned by Pegula Sports and Entertainment who purchased the intellectual property of the team from former owner Curt Styres who moved the previous version of the team to Halifax, Nova Scotia as the Halifax Thunderbirds at the end of the 2018–2019 season.
